Title: Monster Bruiser
Post by: J CRANE on January 25, 2009, 07:30:39 AM
What would be the closest thing brunswick has to the old Monster Bruiser?
picked a use 1 up a few months ago and it may be my best ball(or atleast my most consistent one). but would like to find something that would be similar i can replace it with when it gets too old to throw(lets just hope it has alot of games left in it ,cause it is a MONSTER).

IME the Rattler will get you the closest.

Little known tidbit about the Bruiser. One of the first hybrid covers. Although it was not marketed that way, there is a little bit of "pearl" in the cover.

To take it one step further, the Monster Smash/R was a pearl/solid hybrid mix of PowerKoil 18.

And neither one of those answers the original posters question! But thank you both for the history lesson.

Okay, okay Rico.

A polished Copperhead would be the closest to the Bruiser.

Twisted Fury & Rattler will be a shade more skid/flippy than the Bruiser. Both the TF & Rattler covers are cleaner through the fronts & mids that the Bruisers PowerKoil 18 cover.

If you like your Bruiser with this layout, you will most likely like the Rattler with the same layout. The core numbers on the Rattler & Bruiser are similar, but the Rattler cover (Activator) will be cleaner & lengthier than the Bruiser's PowerKoil 18 cover.

Enjoy!!!!

IMO, the Twisted will be a bit lengthier than the Rattler. Mainly due to the core of the TF having a lower differential and higher rg core.
