Why is everyone comparing to see if a ball...
« on: December 28, 2003, 07:44:48 PM »
will out hook the Inferno? Is the ball that vicious?!? I mean, can it out hook the following balls:

-MoRich/MAYHEM  and Colossus Supreme
-Lane 1/Super Carbide Bomb
-Storm/Fear Factor

I haven't seen any of these balls in action yet but I was just in the Dyno-Thane forum and they were comparing the Anomaly to the Inferno and they were suggesting that if the Anomaly hooked more than the Inferno, it's like they were suggesting it's the biggest ball out there now. Not trying to start any flaming or anything like that just would like to know if the Inferno series is like that.

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

It's the fact the Inferno is resin they're comparing it to the Anomaly, which is also resin.

Those other balls are particle and no in my opinion the Inferno won't out hook them.  On the other hand their intended uses/conditions are very different therefore a reaction difference must be noted.  (Whether it's roll out, even arc, or snappier backend)

The Inferno is quite an agressive ball, and some magazines regard it as the strongest resin ball on the market.

Would you give everything up, just to do it all over again?

Hook more doesn't mean score more. I personally polished my Inferno to cut down the hook, so the ball would store more energy, and I could use it longer...When I see everyone wanting to know what hooks more I wonder what they are really looking for....or even if they know what they are looking for..???

The only reason people rave about the Inferno is due to the way that Brunswick finishes off the ball.

There is no other company out there that puts a polished ball out there with a 400 grit and then polish. This is the only reason that the Inferno hooks so much.

I ran a test just to see. I took my Inferno and a used Sling Blade I got in and drilled them the same exact way...5-1/2 x4-1/2 with no weighthole. Both balls had within 1/8 oz side and finger weight and both were sanded to 800 grit and followed up with a single application of Storm Xtra Shine.

The Sling Blade outhooked the Inferno by at least 3-4 boards. Now from what I understand the Sling Blade is NOT supposed to be in the same league as the Inferno. Especially since it is a true pearl resin and has a hook rating on the order of 11 less according to BTM's rating.

Same lanes, same bowler, same release, same drill pattern...the Inferno is a good ball but it is not the big boy ball it is unless you put that factory surface back on it.
