My Inferno is mellowing out...
« on: May 06, 2003, 08:40:18 PM »
I've been using this ball for about a month now...its got about 40 games on it. Track area is not worn out (still as shiny as box condition), but there are a couple of nicks and scratches courtesy of the wood lanes I bowl at once a week. I've been cleaning it diligently during and after league sessions to minimize oil absorbtion.

Right now the reaction is noticebly 'shifting' from the trademark hard snap to more of a strong arc, which covers significantly less boards. Any fellow Inferno users experiencing the same thing? I'm thinking of giving it a soak in hot water and detergent...would that be a good idea?

flapjack - Doing a good thorough cleaning is a good thing for most of today s coverstocks.

Have you tried the Elixir yet?  It really helps keep down oil absorbtion and makes cleaning much easier.

Go to the website and check it out.

I guess my inferno's a little different from the rest then Mine *was* definitely snapping hard...kinda like the old Brunswick Command Zone several years back.

Doc: I do have the elixir and I apply one thin layer of it to the ball regularly every 15 games or so. I think I'll give it the hot water treatment and see how it turns out.

In the meantime, I've already placed an order for a 2nd inferno. Damn I like this ball!

Flapjack - Be sure you do the oil drop test on the ball to make sure the ball doesn't hold the oil.  That is the best way to determine when it is necessary for you to recoat the ball.

My Inferno will hook anywhere.  The league that I bowl here in Tucson never really puts out oil, so I'll never use it there.  I bought it for when I have to go to Phoenix where they just love to oil the lanes.  I recently went to Safford for a tourney, where they did have alot of oil, and the Inferno will skid with the oil, and once it hit dry, it'll fly!  Averaged about 224 with it for 12 games.
