Blast Vs Strike Zone
« on: November 26, 2007, 05:58:56 PM »
I was looking at both of these balls to get this weekend. I wanted to know which would be good on med to heavy league shot and with a surface adjustment work on a heavy tourny shot. Im looking for a ball I can swing in league and get good recovery and forgiving if I miss right, and play straighter in a tourney with heavily oiled. Which of these would work best.

I have both a Blast Zone and a Red Zone with the same surface prep (600 smooth plus polish), and for me, the Blast Zone is *much* sharper at the break, and is two to four boards stronger overall.

I tend to use the Blast when I want to open up a tighter track, and the Red when I'm on tougher conditions that require more control of the breakpoint.

Both are great balls, but your surface prep and pin to PAP will make each ball very different if you want.

For example, my RZ is pin above and very shiny so I can play further outside. But my Blast Zone has no polish and an earlier rolling layout to allow me to play the wetter part of the lane. I have polished the Blast to increase the late lane movement and it's very good that way, too.

If both were laid out similar and both had the same surface, I would guess that Bracket Creep's assessment would be exactly what I'd see, too.
