Need advice about Smokin Inferno
« on: November 11, 2005, 03:24:44 PM »
Since I'll be bowling on second shift dry lanes with decent backends, which layout should I choose.

I'm a medium revs, medium ball speed player with a high track. According to the brunswick layout sheet, high track players shouldn't choose an early layout, so I'm pretty much debating which layout. It is a choice between 1L and 2L.

Anybody have this ball and one of these layouts? I'm just afraid of 1L burning up on the backends and 2L being not enough. I just am curious.

I'll chose an early layout when I get the Absolute Inferno and see how it goes.

Good, I will get something in between 1L and 2L if that is possible. I can't wait to throw the ball. It is my first Brunswick after a bad experience with the Frenzy. I will post a review once I have a league night with it.

I currently have mine drilled label, and jesus, this thing goes pretty long compared to the others ive seen. Mine gets to the breakpoint and just turns left. I was told its because I have alot of hand, but eh.

The pin on mine is above the ring finger, and cg kicked out of the center of the palm slightly. It is very strong when it starts to dry up, but a few adjustments, and it's still controlable. Plus it hits like nothing I've ever seen.

I have my drilled 2L. It has a ton of back end. It is one of the best balls I have thrown. I can give you additional info if you want it.

Stroker,
I have medium ball speed (around 16 mph) and medium revs as well.  I used somewhere between a 2L and a 3L layout on my Smokin and it works awesome for second shift.  I have the pin above the ring finger and the Cg kicked out enough to get a about 3/4 oz of side weight w/o balance hole.  The ball had about a 3 to 3.5 inch cg to pin distance so the finger/thumb weight is about neutral the way it is drilled.

I just got the smokin inferno and I posted a review about it. I went with layout 2L. It has a very smooth reaction and isn't very skid snap at all. It feels a step down from where my Paradigm is. I love playing down and in with the SI.
