Title: Need Help Identifying A Ball
Post by: GTMiller on August 13, 2017, 02:35:29 PM
So I was just able to pick up two balls at a garage sale and wanted to know if anyone could identify them or at least knows their coating type? I'm pretty new to bowling so I can't tell myself.
The first is a Brunswick Rhino ball, matte black, and has a "1991 BPAA U.S. Open, Indianapolis" label on it. BEN5379.

The second ball is an Ebonite Cyclone ball though so I won't bother in this forum section.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Given it's a 1991 ball and resins weren't out yet, I'd suspect it's a plain Brunswick Black Rhino urethane:

Thanks! I had a feeling that was the case but the newer Rhino's were different and I couldn't find the older ones nor knew about resin's history, haha.

First resin Rhino was the Teal that came out in 93.  There was also a powder blue urethane that came out about the same time.  Several urethane Rhinos before that.

Actually the first resin Rhino was the purple Rhino Pro

I remember the purple.  Didn't realize it was resin.  Maybe because the teal was much better

it was. There are asymmetric cored plastic balls that seem stronger than that Purple Rhino Pro seemed to me.
