Need suggestions on Scorchin drill
« on: May 27, 2007, 08:22:46 AM »
ok, the house i have been bowling at has changed the shot. i use to be able to play 15-6 with my Red Zone, now playing straight up 5, the ball doesnt move.  tried the No Limit, still no movement.  went to Action Max, very little movement(and i thought it was a heavy oil ball)  Delta Rule, very little movement.  had a Rule GP2 laying around(14lbs though), now i can play straight up 5 and reach the pocket.  needless to say i play that shot most of the night.  Granted all those balls have a 4 1/2 to 5" pin to pap.  Probrably need something drilled stronger.  I have a Scorchin inferno laying around and would like suggestions on how to drill it to combat this condition.

a little info about me:
high tracker..pap is 5 3/4" x 1" up (so cant go pin down)
med-high revs
span 4"

Scorchin specs
15lbs
2" pin
3oz top weight

i was thinking a 4" pin to pap/pin next to ring finger.  leave about 3/4 ounce of side just in case i want to put a hole somewhere. the house is front synthetic, rest wood. any info would be appreciated.

Ya that sounds like a good choice to me.  Scorchin' Core is on the weaker side, so a strong layout will work well.

yeah, i tried cover changes on those balls too.  GP2, Delta 1, and Action Max are all sitting at 500 right now. tried 1000, 2000(just in case the balls were burning up), but they just went straight.

I track high as well and don't have any problems with layouts with the pin being below the fingers.

Tha beings said, I'd go 4" ptp w/flare increasing hole..

thats what i figured to do.  my Rule GP2 is 4 1/2" ptp, pin below ring finger.  and my track does hit the finger holes.  sometimes it dont though, and i assume that its because the ball is 14lbs and i am over hitting the ball at release.  so im kinda reluctant to go pin down.  i think pin next to ring finger 4" ptp would work. leaving about 3/4oz side just in case i want a hole somewhere.
thanks for the help guys.
