Yup. Confirms the rumors of a heavy oil ball, the "Scorching Inferno". Probably last of its kind...

You guys think its another attempt at a particle inferno.  How many tweaks can you make to resin/pearl resin and not have overlap, Activator, Activator + and Activator Advance perhaps Activator Maxx is particle?

if it's more aggressive than the ultimate inferno, i hope they expand the hook rating scale.

There is still a lot of space in the Ball Reaction Chart to fill...

http://www.brunswickbowling.com/uploads/images/811/Brunswick_Ball_Comparison_Chart_Oct05.pdf

Something in the S10 area? Would set a new standard, and the scale goes to "T"!

They've already expanded it to 175.  The Goliath was 160, the Strike Zone 155.  Older balls simply don't have graphics that show the 175 scale.

The Comaprison Chart is a nice toll, and even though the hook and breakpoint shaope ratings are not included, it gives a very comprehensive idea of a OOB ball reaction. With the introduction of the BVP line this was also expanded by R-T, to match the Goliath and other stuff to come.

Are we going to see the 170 Hook Potential ball?

Assuredly.  And we're going to see a dozen people whining about who needs that much hook, how that ball will burn out on anything this side of Prince William Sound, how that ball is ruining the sport because it hooks too much, and shame on Brunswick for pushing the idea of hook-hook-hook when nearly everyone but the complainer won't understand why the thing doesn't hook when they throw it (it is a hook-monster and should cover 45 boards says the uneducated league hack).

Also it has a tendency to fall on the toes of small children and may cause shingles in elderly bowlers.

I was at my proshop today and the guy who runs it is on brunswick's staff adn the eastern region rep was there and I talked to him for a little bit and he said that the new inferno is due out in jan. and there will be more to come after the upcoming one because at it was told to me that R&D guys have about 10 more different versions of the activator coverstock now I am not saying that all 10 versions will make it to production but I would defintely not  be surprised to see about 3-4 more infernos

What if you guys are thinking completely opposite, and the Activator max stands for max-length????  I mean it would only make sense that "Scorchin'" would refer to dry lanes, and they have nothing in the Inferno, BVP, and Zone series that is truly weak.  (Punisher is borderline).  I really see no need for a particle ball to hook a ton, considering the Goliath hooks a mile on the correct conditions.  I could be very wrong, but just another thing to think about.

im thinkin for sure this ball wil be something for the heavy oil. based on the idea that bruns doesnt seem to be interested in a dry ball. they would give us a max that equals length, bcause we have already had that inferno twice. once with the intense and now with the smokin', both longer versions of the infeno line. now you take one of those or a bvp ball put a lenght drill on it and theres your dry ball.

now as far as oil is concerned we got the OI and then the UI, really just the UI, and the goliath. the goliath is our main source of hook monstrousity, and the UI does hook much, but not as much, and there is no current new activator for the heavy oil. so all arrows are pointing to a heavy oil ball.

this is what i think it really will be, a heavy oil reactive. i think we are going to get a new very crazy aggressive ball that is reactive, after all every company wants to open the doors to something new, so why not this?

just me though. but whatever it is, BRUNSWICK, please no gold or black or bright green (pba inferno).

They could come out with a particle (looking almost exactly like the Raging) completely gray, with red text that says Charred Inferno with oj flames around it. It could be for dry-light oil

Its called creating a market/demand.

Brunswick makes the oil that alot of bowling centers use.
They come out with a slicker oil...
Older balls dont hook enough for a lot of people.
The NEW Brunswick Ball does though, Why? Because they test on their lanes and their oils! Boom New ball sales created!
Brunswick oils and machines used on tour so you will see them on the TV as well.

Conspiracy theory, maybe? But something to think about.

I Didnt say that, but you think Brunswick tests their balls on other oils or lane surfaces?

Its still the bowler I agree totally. That was part of the sarcasm in the post.
But there are those who think that all things equal B balls work best on B lanes and B oils compared to other companies balls.

think about it.  us on ballreviews represent on the whole the higher eschelon of bowlers.  THe average bowler is around 150.  They don't know the difference between any of this equipment.  They buy a ball every other year, becuase what they had before isn't hooking anymore.  Naturally they will find the strongest ball and buy it.  Its smart for big B to come out with all these hook monsters, becuase people will buy them.

however, us competitive tournament bowlers always hope for a super long ball that will turn the corner where we can cross 5 arrow and find finsih at the end of a 6-8 game block...

There's no need to stock up on them now unless you just want to save money.  They'll appear in an Elite ball in a couple of years as brand new, state of the art technology.

how can you go wrong with these?

Danger Zone Black
Combat Zone Tracer
Sapphire Zone
Fire Quantum
Raven Quantum

all proven pocket killers, i dont think anything elite comes out with in the future for $300 will match what these legends bring to the table.
