New forum subdivision
« on: March 11, 2005, 12:40:34 PM »
I propose a new subdivision of the Brunswick forum: Brunswick-Children, err, ... Brunswick-Nation.

This forum has gotten so petty and childish (not vindictive or nasty), I hesitate to read, no less post advice, suggestions or my own experiences with my Brunswick balls. I must say, I just don't understand.

You know, we don't need to have daily topics telling us we suck.......Gets really old and probably makes people want to be more annoying....

EDIT:  I might want to add, I do agree with you though.  Even I am getting tired of the "OMG I BOUGHT A POWER GROOVE I'M IN THE NATION WE'RE COOL" posts......This is NOT what the whole Nation thing was supposed to be....IT was actually supposed to be like the Track forum, where all the experts got together in one place to help.........But that idea went to hell.

I think everyone is taking this whole message board thing just a tad too serious. It's a free country and a free site. Everyone can post whatever they want charlest...as tired as I am of all the brunswick dribble, they have just as much right to post whatever they want as you or I.

Hmm, I just noticed something very ironic.  I looked back at the post and discovered some things.  Yes, it was meant for the brunswick loyalists.  But.......and you'll find this VERY ironic........I actually created it to STOP the spam in the brunswick forum.  Wow.  That idea REALLY got twisted around...

Amazing how things work out....

To expound on what Ric said, I can see how frustrating it can be when you're trying to clear up some misconceptions and are greeted with malcontent. It is like arguing with people on the Atkins diet, there is just no reasoning with folks like that. They believe something to be correct, and nothing, not even something as minute as physics, will stand in the way of their point of view. I will be glad to test the irrelevancy of cg with 3 test balls, and my trusty video camera will be along side. I reckon it won't help much, but then again, not even having jebus show up in a tortilla and show them the err of their ways will help our cause!

And about these childish posts, there's really 3 things you can do about the so called "problem".

1. Use the ignore button
2. Nothing
3. Like it

The Nation has expanded and flooded the boards worse than Agent Smith clones running amuck in the Matrix. With the huge success lately, there has been nothing but violent opposition against Brunswick and the Nation.

First, the Brunswick "conspiracy" with the PBA lane oils. What a load of crud! Nobody said a word when Columbia300 made bowling balls dominated most of the first half. Brunswick balls start making shows, and heaven forbid win some, and all the red flags go up. Nice!

Second, posts just like this saying we are the problem. A_Ak57 was the innovator of the Nation, and now there are at least 4 copycat groupies. That is fine so long as the groups post their milarky in their respective forums. If I don't feel like reading Eye of the Storm topics, then I steer clear of their forum.

It is a VERY simple idea, but then again, common sense isn't.

This is stupid. Let them have their fun...it's a public forum...anyone can join...anyone can post....nobody has any right to tell them what they can post about and who can post where....everyone shut the hell up!

ALRIGHT, I'M HERE TO SETTLE THIS.

I didn't want to, BUT........I will show you the OFFICIAL, ORIGINAL Nation post.  You'll find the main post VERY interesting....Oh yeah and in later posts you'll notice where I said that the Nation is for people with all brunswick arsenals....Heck, i didn't even consider myself part of it until i had my target zone drilled up, but anyways......BTW, to whoever said the Nation started the wicked thing, you're way off.  The nation was started less than two months ago.  Wicked's been here since september at least.  Once again, but anyways.......

http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=71582&ForumID=2&CategoryID=2

And as you can see, i've never edited the original post.  So yes, the whole point of it was really to.........Oh nevermind, look yourself.

Hmm, maybe i SHOULD resurrect the ghost that is The Official Nation.

And Greg, people like Nick and Ric took offense, because nobody EVER has singled out certain people.  It's always "all those brunswick idiots", and that's why I think Ric has gotten angry....Nobody really references childish posters, rather just childish posts.  It's like this......If I said Pennsylvanians are idiots (which i am one, just to not be discriminatory), but I was really talking about a couple, wouldn't everyone in the state take offense?  Yes.

Hmm, lefty joe has got a REAL good idea....

Andy, hopefully the ORIGINAL post can help clear some of this up. I know exactly where your coming from, seeing as I was participating in the orignal Nation, all in fun. Like we said, it was NEVER MEANT to become this big huge catastrophy, just a little fun for the Brunswick guys. I do agree though, that it's gotten way out of hand. I feel like I'm in 4th grade again, trying to start a secret boys club in a tree house.

Well I'm not leaving...

I met the owner of BBE yesterday during the JBT ProAM, but that forum is a little dry for my tastes. I may be alone with this, but I kind of get a kick out of the "I got a Groove, w00000t Nation, que viva!" posts. It is awesome that a person can get so excited over a bowling ball. If pride can be bought for under a hundred bucks, great! Yes, some posts get out of hand, but the ignore feature takes care of that.

I have 4 Brunswick balls in my arsenal (Inferno, Blazing Inferno, SlayR, and SmashR), but I'm not going to post "I AM IN THE NATION!", and change my screen name to BrunsBuck LOL

It's kind of funny to think though, that back when andy first started this whole thing we joked about "if it became a huge cult"....coincidence? Who knows!

It's funny how you can watch a group of people create and divide and then go along in there own little subdivisions, and cells, etc...

Storm used marketing for a long time to quote them off key, phrases like the storm nation, and high performance leader.

If numbers are your determining factor, or tv shows and wins, it's all dependant want you want to count and exclude to find out who or what company dominates.

no one's opinion is wrong and none is 100% right in the same sense.

I know i might be speaking in different tongues to some, but locking yourself into one cell or company limits your universe to what is carrying the B logo.

I have admitted on the boards, that i throw only columbia, but i sell a large part of brunswick in my shop, because IMHO they are releasing products for the majourity of what my clients see or want.

I personally hate being a company guy, i don't want to tell someone to take a certain ball just because i know that it serves my needs rather than there own. and what matters most is what's best for the client at the end of the day.

I see people here buying a brunswick ball asking for acceptance into this Nation, looking to belong and have a feeling or sense of being part of something.

everyone has a follower and a leader within them.

It's funny, if you look at storm's marketing over the last few years, they have tried to create this type of nation. creating more brand loyalty.

I wonder what storm thinks of all this? they have dropped thousands of dollars into marketing, and not create the same effect that a forum/board has with just a few posters.

(note: I am not selecting storm for a specific reason, but they have used the terms Nation in marketing and they spend alot on marketing.)

Greg, and others, ESPECIALLY BrunsRich,

As in most of my "tickle-your-toes" type of posts, this was only half in jest. Of course, I don't & didn't expect anyone to actually do that division.

As far as I have been and am concerned, BrunsRich and BrunsNick are excellent sources of knowledge regarding Brunswick balls and whole busload of technological insight AND research into ball drilling AND behavior. That has never been in question or doubted by anyone.

What provoked me (and I used that word specifically) to post that was the ongoing childish nature of the vast majority of posts here on the Brunswick forum, AFTER the establishment of the so-called Brunswick Nation. The post that was typical of the childish attitudes and behaviors and most inhibits the basic nature of all manufacturers' forums was the one in which some poster asked if he should get rid of all his other Brunswick balls because his Absolute was so "good". I won't even begin to comment on the inanity and naivete of such a such a premise.

That post got me to poke fun at a Nation of "Brunswick Children".

What I don't understand, what I cannot fathom is learned people (I am assuming) like BrunsRich and BrunsNick getting insulted over this or are they really leading a sect of the Branch Davidians ...
