Strike Zone
« on: November 03, 2005, 10:37:21 PM »
I have a NIB strike zone sitting here and am thinking about drilling it up.  Has anyone had any experience with this ball?  I'm looking for oil handling capability of my xxxcel (http://eiserver.ei.psu.edu/~skb116/xxxcel.jpg), but I want something with a little more length and backend.  I can probably make a trade with my local proshop for an ultimate (strike zone + a little cash) or a solid uranium (strike zone + a lot of cash), but I figured both of these balls would give a reaction closer to the xxxcel and further from what I'm looking.  What does everyone think?  Maybe something with pin above fingers and psa in strong position (4.5 X 3.5)?

Thanks,
S^2

I don't have an xxxl, but from what i've seen, it revs up faster than the strike.  I have always been amazed that my Strike gets through the heads so easily with a pin under drill.  It is a very versitile ball that clears the heads and revs like mad at the break point.  I would go with a similar drill to the xxxl, the ball is different enough.  Allow the strike to break in a bit. I've seen rather different reactions from them in the first few games of use.

Just to let you know, the Ultimate retails for more than the SZ does...

I think he meant he'd trade the strike zone and give them some cash.  Not trading the SZ and them giving him cash.

yeah... that's it.. and I would have to bring the check book if I wanted to solid uranium  ... think they are retailing for $259.95 or something rediculous... lol!

yes, the xxxcel revs up extremely early.. even with the moderately strong layout...  unless there is extreme oil, it takes off around the arrows (at least on the league shots)...  I have been saving it for tournaments later in the year.  I'm just looking for a different look from the xxxcel...
