Dry-R Ball
« on: June 19, 2008, 04:37:40 AM »
Bought a Dry-R to cope with lanes , that in summer have very little oil. I had the ball driller put the pin about 2 inches above the index finger ad the CG jus just below the index finger.  Wanted both a negative pin and cg but to our surprise it didn't change ball reaction at all... we  expected it too go dead xtraight but it still hooked hard in the oil???? Has any of the Brunswick ball Reps have an answer to this???

Please rephrase. The index finger is the first finger from the thumb:

OR
did you actually drill a hole for your index finger?

this ball has to hook off your hand, them go dead straight, unless you are throwing with your index and intelligence finger, them it will hook the whole lane.

Let me rephrase my previous topic.  Ball is drilled with pin 5.5 inches from my PAP and about 2 inches above my fingers and cg shifted left of center about 1/2 inch to give me lots of finger weight and negative side weight but it does ot give me the reaction that I was looking for...a very straight ball to cope with lanes with very light oil..and I mean lite.

Thanks for replies

The side and finger weights in this case, a modified pancake core, can make a difference. I did something similar to a regular power Groove a few years back. It raised my track to create a more even rolling ball than I normally throw, but mine did hardly flare at all.

As for the amount of hook, it really depends on your hand and the amount of dry there is. The PG Dry/R has a very weak resin cover, even though the core has potential flare.

It might be that there is so much dry, you really need to throw a polyester ball.

Wait for a Brunswick tech guy, like BrunsRico to chime in. He may have a better answer for you. The above is all I can say.
