What ball is similar to a Monster Frenzy?
« on: September 25, 2006, 06:47:01 AM »
I would like to know everyones suggestions for a ball that will act similar to the Monster Frenzy. For me this has been one of if not the best ball I have ever thrown , overall. What I like most is how it gets through the heads and seems to want to rev up in midlane. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    * RG Min: 2.536
    * RG Diff: 0.041
    * RG Avg: 4.5

Performance:

    * Hook Potential: 90
    * Length: 125
    * BreakPoint Shape: 85

THANKS! BT

Since the Frenxy is halfway between a Punisher and a Power Groove Pearl, I'd guess it's closest to the Sahara which has the same coverstock, N'Control, and the advantage of an extremely adjustable core. The Frenzy also seemed to have a goos deal of control in its make-up, whereas the Punisher is flippy in the extreme.

I have not seen many "controllable" Frenzies where I am from.  The Frenzies I have seen are very skid/flip type rolls/reactions.  I have used a Punisher pin up above the bridge and no weight hole and it seemed more controllable at the breakpoint than the Frenzies I have seen.  I do agree that the Sahara would be an excellent choice to replace the Frenzy.  The Sahara gets through the heads pretty well with decent midlane read and a strong, continuous backend.

BT,

If you liked the Frenzy that much, why not try to find another one?  Alot of times, if you go to the wanted section of this site and post a "wanted" topic out there, you might get some hits.  I have gotten some older, but still new in box stuff that was just as old as the Frenzy.  You never know.  It might work.

The Frenzy was one hell of a ball, Brunswick doesn't have anything like it currently but the Punisher is the closest in the lineup.

Closest ball in Brusnwick's line up is the Punisher. It has a similar core by the specs and is intended for the same job - medium-light conditions. But it uses a slightly more aggressive N'Control generation, it is supposed to be even snappier than the Frenzy.

The Sahara uses the Punisher's coverstock, not the Frenzy's. But the stronger core makes it IMHO more versatile - the Punisher is more touchy to oil or carrydown.

If you look for a milder overall ball reaction on "Frenzy conditions", you might also consider a pearl reactive Power Groove. It goes slightly longer and has a smoother breakpoint, but they make great balls for late games and light conditions.

I have a single drill 16lb Frenzy for sale.  The ball has maybe a game on it.  I bought it being told it was 15lbs....and had it drilled up as soon as it arrived and never thought to weigh it...  It ended up being a 16lber.  I tried throwing it a little, but just too heavy for me...  I think? its a stacked layout..pin above and right of fingers and cg below with a weight hole.  Span is approx 4 9/16... shoot me a PM if interested.
