Please tell me everything you know about the Danger Zone!
« on: November 05, 2005, 04:08:22 AM »
I am considering getting this ball. I am in great need of a control ball that doesn't over react. I heard this is one of the best balls ever made that fits this description. I was just wondering if I could get as much insight and thoughts about this ball as possible. It would be great if you told me the kind of lane conditions and drillings you got as well. Thanks.

If you are looking for real control, try to get the Blue Sapphire instead.  The Danger has PK 18 which is used today on the Nemesis and the Rampage (pearlized PK18).  The BLue zone has PK17 which I find is alot smoother and overall hooks less.

The Danger Zone can STILL be considered strong - even by today's standards.
It's one of the most even arcing balls ever made - but control? no. A power groove is a really good choice for control. (they're not weak either!)

Amen to mumzie's post. I had a Danger Zone drilled leverage and talk about hit like a truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First series when I picked up the ball was 640 plus as I remember. Very strong movement to the pocket with this drilling...........

i only use my danger zone in tournaments and other important bowling events.
it is certainly a ball im cautious using, as it would kill me to see it damaged.
definately the hardest hitting ball ive ever owned.
whether it came in at an angle or more straight up, it will carry.

after seeing its power, powerkoil 18 and the mushroom core sold me.
most of the balls that i own now have either the cover, core or both.

the layout for my danger zone is in my profile.

I currently have a danger zone with the pin to the left of the ring finger, cg about 1" to the left of grip center and PAP about 4" from pin.(I'm a lefty) I originally had it polished and it was a little too jumpy off the dry, so I took it down to 800 grit and became much smoother off the break, with just about the same backend and doesn't roll out; cuts through just about anything except a flood.
However if you really want control I'd recommend an Impulse Zone. I currently have one drilled with the pin 2 1/4" left of the ring finger, cg 1" to the left of the grip center, with 2" deep balance hole on PAP 2" from pin; still in box finish.

just drill it label leverage.  it'll be the smoothest ball you own.  early rolling, very predictable.  Arguably the best ball ever made.
By today's standards it is medium everything.
