Brunswick Arsenal
« on: September 15, 2012, 11:08:19 AM »
Hey everyone, heard a lot of good things about some of the latest and greatest from the Big B so if you were to make an all Brunswick Arsenal (Which I'm thinking of doing seeing as everything i have is outdated and used up)... i have an idea but not really sure what others think... I don't have specifics on my pap or tilt or speed or anything... i can say I'm versatile but my strongest point is when i can stand left and feed it right.  All comments and suggestions are welcome! Thanks everyone!

Heavy Oil: Nexxus (Side ?: is this ball that good or would u get more use overall out of the nexus solid?)
Balldown: Nexxxus
Maxxed out or Versa Max (Side?: which is a better benchmark ball... i know the maxxed out is stronger but again is more hook worth it or is the VERSAtility of the VERSA max the right way to go here?
i feel like with my hand positions i can make those work on anything i see... if i had to step down again for bone dry i would think maybe a karma pearl or something...Thanks!

The 3 balls I have in my bag right now are Nexus solid, Nexxxus, and the Versa-Max. The Nexxus was a great ball for me polished, but not very impressed with it at OOB surface. There isn't much Brunswick has made recently that isn't great.

The Hellraiser Revenge is a monster too when there's a bit more oil. Mine cracked so I'm waiting to have it replaced right now.

The Maxxed-out and Versa are 2 balls that every arsenal should be built around (especially if you are remotely close to being "matched" with your rev-rate and speed) so I think those 2 should be the starting point of your new bag. My 2 Versas and 3 Maxxed-outs make up a large portion of my bag and give me great looks on med-heavy to med-dry conditions. How large of an arsenal are you looking at having? Also, what type of patterns do you face? Answer these questions for us and we can narrow some options down for you. However, if you knew your release specs, we could get more specific...

As of right now I have a Nexxus, a Hell Raiser Revenge (Can use a Nexus Solid in this spot), a Nexus Pearl, a Versa Max, a Pink/Purple Karma, and plastic.

I have a few more to add, another Nexxus drilled a little stronger than the first.  A Zexxxus or a polished Nexus Solid to go between the Revenge and the Pearl, and a Slingshot to round out my full arsenal....but the original six is doing quite well for me right now.

In an new arsenal, I would have the maxxed-out as the heavy oil ball with an overall strong reaction.  The Nexxus f(P+R) would be a good heavier oil ball like the maxxed-out, but it would have a stronger backend reaction. And, the same with the Nexus f(P+F) being a good overall strong ball with a slightly less downlane reaction than the Nexxus. The next ball out of the bag might be a Nexxxus f(P+S) which can still handle medium to heavier oil conditions but give you a stronger backend reaction than the Nexxus f(P+R). Then the nex ball should be a versa-max which reads the lane the best when it starts to get drier, and it has a smooth arcing motion. The versa-max is a great compliment to the maxxed-out. And the Nexxxus is a good compliment to the Nexxus because both clear the heads and have the strong late movement downlane. I wouldn't rule out a slingshot at the bottom of the arsenal when the lanes get fried and the versa-max is too much. So In summary:

Maxxed-out, Nexus f(P+F), Nexxus f(P+R)
Nexxxus f(P+S), Nexxus f(P+R),
Versa-max
Slingshot
