cleaning Ultimate Inferno
« on: March 01, 2004, 12:51:16 AM »
What cleaners would you recommend for regular cleaning after each time out? I have Ebonite's Powerhouse Cleaner. It says it's good for particle and resin balls. I use it for my Ebonite Illusion ball. Is this a good choice for the UI as well?

Also I was planning to soak this ball about every 50 games in hot water with a little Dawn in it. It's worked for my Illusion. Any issues doing it here too? And no, I will not bake the ball. I refuse to do that.

Thanks.

Except when the ball is finished being drilled?
It's good to remove excess crazy glue and yellow pencil lines but Sweet Jesus that stuffs stinks

Just curious: anyone know the name of the solution (or whatever it's called) that's used to strip oil from the lanes and does it harm every coverstock?

Mr.Bass, that swap monter still rolling like a tank. the striper does not harm the ball. I know some guys on this site use it directly on the ball to try to remove oil. does it work I don't know.

Yeah Next, love that ball. Shot 234 215 207 at practice in N. Arlington, but it gets dirty. I'll stop by before league

LoL, since when is it "illegal" to touch a ball with acetone.  So long as you're not altering the ball's surface with it during competition or softening the shell below the limits for hardness, you can do whatever you want with acetone and bowling balls.

...... When did anyone say it was okay to use acetone during competition..my understanding was someone said it was illegal to use acetone on a ball at all, which is false.

Yes, I work in a proshop. NO, I have never heard that it was illegal to touch a ball with acetone regardless of whether it was during competition or not.  In the short 3 years i've been doing this, that issue never came up, and yes, I use acetone frequently to remove excess superglue when it has spilled over onto the balls surface.  So I guess as you would say, I choose not to follow the rules.  Also, last time I checked, it was the bowlers responsibility to make sure they're not doing something illegal, not the pro shops, as I have never attempted to break the rules with surface changes myself.
