I'm definitely getting a better feel for what the Smokin can and can't do.  I had very good but not great (if I hadn't missed a couple easy spares, they would have been great) second and third games last night, but struggled with it on the fresh.  I'd like to make it just a tad stronger to handle the fresh league shot.  Right now it's sitting close to box finish but not quite as shiny as it was OOB.  What are your recommendations for making it just a little bit stronger?  Change the surface?  Just knock off the rest of the polish?  It's drilled with the pin under bridge and the cg just off to the right.  Thanks in advance for your advice!  I really like the hit with this ball!

Sorry for my newbness.    I'm still new to the whole scene!

Anyway, here is the problem.  On the fresh shot if I played my preferred line (just outside the second arrow) I couldn't get the ball to turn over.  I basically had to move farther right and throw it almost straight at the pocket.  I even tried moving out a bit further and put it right in the dry to no avail.  As the oil got pushed around in the area of the second arrow, ie the end of the first game on, it moved just fine for me.  I like em long and strong, and the SI fits that bill, but it's just not turning over for me on the fresh and skidding through.  I don't think I want it to rev up SOONER, as I'm more successful with a down and in and I don't swing the ball at all.

sounds like the wrong ball for that condition.  strike zone or ai might be better choice for waht you describe.

I have now tried it sanded down to 600.  Not sufficient continuation to make it worthwhile.  I think that this ball is suited to about 1800 surface and being used on broken down or medium to medium light oil heads and midlanes and strong backends.

Well, it certainly works for me as the shot breaks down, but it's a struggle in the first half game or so.  I was really hoping I could use this ball the majority of the time, but from what you guys are telling me it ain't gonna work out.

Lex,
Have you changed the surface at all?  The last time you posted on this ball, you weren't quite sure what the surface because you had bought it used.  You were thinking that the previous owner had possibly put a smoother surface on the ball.  Well anyways, if you are not quite sure what it is, put it back to box, which is 400 grit with high gloss polish.  If that is still not enough, then take the twoheadedboy's advice and use 220 grit with ruff buff polish.  That should do the trick.
