Title: Powerkoil 24 coverstock??
Post by: 637jr on April 22, 2012, 12:18:23 PM
I know about and have thrown balls with the powerkoil 17 and powerkoil 18 coverstock but I now see that some of the international balls have powerkoil 22 and powerkoil 24.  Are these the same as the pk17 and pk18 or different?  If different has anyone used a ball with the pk22 and pk24 and what are some of their characteristics.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

I have a ball with a pk22 cover and it seems to be a more aggressive cover.  My guess the bigger the nunber the more aggressive the cover.

You can email Brunswick or call and get a hold of someone to find out more about the cover. I have on several of the overseas bowling balls I've purchased over the years. They are great with customer support.

If BrunsNick is still around hear ask him. I can't think of some of the other Brunswick guys that use to be here.

AFAIK, the PowerKoil versions with higher numbers have only been used on international balls, and my guess is that these were coverstocks that would later be used under a different label on the normal balls, or covers that were (also) used on MoRich pieces at that time.

I remember the Majestic Zone I (a yellow/red pearl ball) which was marketed as having an "SS Extreme Plus" cover, but it actually had an Activator+ cover which followed a short while later on the Absolute Inferno (and the Shock & Awe).

The Majestic Zone II featured PK22 solid - a really strong piece, esp. with its low RG/high flare core (from the Raging Red Fuze) - and IMHO a symmetrical version of the Total Shock & Awe.
