ULTRA Zone first impressions
« on: February 18, 2008, 07:09:40 AM »
Here is my initial impressions:
Drilled pin below fingers 4 and 5/8 from pap, 1" above grip midline, CG down and weight hole 5" away through CG.  7/8 2.5" deep.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!  I only threw it one game during league, and three more after just to see how it compared.

Throwing the shift standing 35 (2 board drift right), break point out to 10, there is little hold inside, get it out and it read too early just didn't have a lot of room, but it carried when thrown online.

Changed to the ULTRA, and the red sea parted and gave me about 7-8 boards of area easy!  If I got it out, it rolled up to the pocket and didn't over react, if I got it in, somehow it held the line, both carried.  I tried other balls (Strike Zone, GLobal Shift, T-Road Pearl) and just didn't get the same read.  In fact after practice I left back to back 9's, opened up the lane a little more and it still carried (38 to 12).

Overall I was very impressed how the ball reads the lane so differently from the other balls.  I plan to throw it this week to see how different or similar it is to the Sidewinder (RICO, 2000 abralon+polish) and Fury (1200+Polish, axis leverage).

I liked it so much, that I think it will be my benchmark ball, and I will add either another Ultra with Pin above fingers, or a twisted with the same drill.
