Need a Brunswick ball to replace my Colombia TI Messenger
« on: August 26, 2006, 11:03:16 AM »
I just sold my Colombia 300 Ti Messenger Pearl(black/gold). It was a dry oil pearl ball drilled with no weight hole and the pin under my ring finger. I loved the ball and I used it for most spares(everything but 10 pins) and for when the lanes dried up alot.

My question is can any of you suggest any Brunswick balls that will fit in where hat ball was? I was thinking maybe a Red Zone drilled to go long or a Ambush drilled long also. My avrg speed is around 18-18.5mph and I dont know my rev rate but its very high from what im told(Cranker). If you thinking or saying a Punisher, I hate that ball and it does not roll well with the way I throw.

So any an all help is welcome.

Thats only in drier amounts of oil and it very controllable for me. Its my most dependable ball I had owned. Now when the lanes are dry its a beast.

The Messenger Ti Black/Gold pearl is 1/4 Punisher & 3/4  Rampage, because SuperFlex is about 3/4 between PK 18 and N'Control, closer to PK 18.
So a Rampage drilled with a slightly longer pin than your Messenger is drilled, or with the cover modified to 800 grit polished, instead of the standard 400 grit polished that Brunswick does, would do the trick.

IMHO, Any Infernos or Zones are much stronger than the Messenger - more hook and more backend than the Msngr Ti.

Well thanks for putting ti like that because a Punisher is not on my list at all. That ball does nothing with the way I throw. So I think I might try a rampage drilled to go long.

I used my TI on the lighter amounts of oil and to hit most of my spares because it went so long and the backend was enuff but not a ton like my Radical.

For the three Punishers I threw I had to slow down my speed alot to get a good reaction from them. I dont like to slow down my speed just to get a ball to hook it feels like im baby'ing the ball down the lane.

You may want to consider a Smokin' Inferno then. That's the next step in strength for the Brunswick line. I don't think an asymmetrical solid is going to be anything like a symmetrical pearl, but that's just me. So you'd be looking Smokin', Radical, or perhaps a polished Absolute Inferno. I say those balls rather than Ambush/Nemesis/Rampage because I THOUGHT the Messenger had a lower RG core whereas the BVP line is med RG, Infernos are low. Just a thought.

I think I will go with this idea because I just remember how much of the same reaction I had with my god brother Smokin' Inferno drilled long. It was almost like my Messanger TI. I will let you all know what I think when i get it.

Why a person would get rid of a ball they liked so much...I can't figure.

AmF has the Supreme Justice Pearl...looks very similar in specs.  I have one arriving this week.. Great reviews but in the AMF section and at bowlingballreviews.com

A punisher might be a touch weaker as the coverstock is very clean but a slightly stronger drilling may make it react very similar or move just a tad left if same drilling.

You have Three good line up. I used my Smokin for brake down lane and Dry lane. This ball does not react if hits any dry just roll thru it. I guest since you already have infernos the Smokin will be a good candidate.

You may want to try Track's heat remake or heat blast. The powerplus from track was very similar to superflex.
