Title: Quantum Helix
Post by: xwenhan on December 02, 2005, 02:17:14 PM
Just read some reviews and rumors have it that the urethane strip doesn't work, it grabbs the lane. Not really sure about that but i would like to confirm it before buying  the ball. By the way, do you guys have any other problems with the Helix, can you recommend the lane conditions i can play this on ? Thanks

i never owned a quantum helix but i threw one that belonged to a friend of mine. his span/pitches/holes etc. were almost the same as mine so it fit well and was easy to throw. i first warmed up with my danger zone( this was 1996 ). the quantum helix( because of the urethane track area )got through the heads much cleaner than the danger zone and flipped harder on the backend. sometimes the helix went too far down the lane before it got into a roll. i never saw the early hook you're describing.

Hey gregg, can you compare the snapp on the backend of the Helix to a brunswick ball? Thanks

because of my lower than average rev rate and higher than average ball speed i never really get a ball to "snap", i'd say the backend reaction was similar to an attitude III or an inferno.

I'm a pretty high rev player with good speed, at the time that was my first finger tip ball, it is similar to the reaction of the inferno id say not really snappy, more archy by todays standerds.  I remember at the time word was that you arn't supposed to drill any holes on the strip, it distortes the reaction, or something like that.  Its been a while!

I am a nmmore rev dominant player, around 300 rpms and slower speed. Anyone know if this is a better choice for medium or should i get a Aquamarine quantum? thanks
