Title: Quantum Helix Video
Post by: J_Mac on July 29, 2005, 06:07:03 PM
My first attempt at tossing a video together.  This ball has been a major help on the shorter and lighter summer pattern at this house.

Hopefully WTDR isn't slow tonight.

If anyone can give me an idea of RPM and speed from this video, feel free to share your findings and thought.

Thanks

Yes, the shirt was given to me for helping tear down the track at the 2003 HPI Challenge in Jackson, MI.

I think the double helix was better. I say we save up our money and get brunswick to remake these do you know how much money we would make on ebay. We could still probably get close to $300 per ball. Or we can can have it in different colors than the than the helix or the double and make it even more of a limited edition ball. I can smell the cash.

More and more I think Brunswick needs to produce this ball again in some form.  I can think of a million bowling centers I face that this ball would come in handy at.  I'n my neck of the woods, beat up wood surfaces with little to no oil to protect the surface is the norm.  No $200 particle heavy oil monsters needs to show up in this area!

It is HIGHLY unlikely that they will ever reproduce this or the Double Helix again.  From what I heard, even with the high price tag, Brunswick hardly made any money off these balls as the production process was very costly.

I agree that this ball is wonderful for those shots that leave you scratching your head though.  A friend of mine thought this and the Double would have made great balls for Reno before they redid the lanes.  I wish I would have brought it to Indiana on a recent trip where I was bowling on some sort of synthetic overlay.  Can you say reverse block in a game?

Looks like your RPM's are in the neighborhood of 150-200, and your speed looks to be 18.5 or thereabouts.  I like how it reacts, that's a powerful hard arc.

The Helix was designed for lighter oil than the Double was I believe.

Thanks bud... pretty close to what I came up with after I did some research.  220 rpm (10 hand revs) and just a hair under 17 mph.  Power stroker I suppose.
