Ball and tape.

Place it where you think it should be based on your track, higher track = 4 1/2+in from grip center.  And if your track is inverted, track closer to the fingers than the thumb. Then you would start at 4 1/2 x a small ammount down.

So with that starting point... you wanna place the tape and watch it or have someone watch it. And if for the first 15 feet the tape doesnt move then you found your axis point.

i've deturmined where my PAP was by rapping tape around the ball (over my Track) and then breaking the ball into 1/4's, wrap more tape around the ball so it crosses the track in those 4 spots. Where the tape meets is your PAP...

If this is confusing i will try to better explain it, if you need my help.

take a bowling ball to a center that has some oil on the lanes( a dull ball works best). throw several shots on the oilest part of the lane. you will notice the rings of oil on the ball. do not wipe the ball clean. get a grease pencil from the pro shop and trace the oil ring that's closest to your thumb and middle finger. trace this oil ring all the way around the ball. now turn the ball so the traced oil ring is parallel to the top of the table. use the grease pencil and mark an "x" on the very top dead center of the ball. this is your pap.

Actually Sixcrank- if you put the track "up" on the spinner, and spin the ball where the track is stationary, this is your Negative Axis Point.  Measure 13 1/2 inches in any direction, this will be your Positive Axis Point.

I like the tape on a plastic ball.  You can throw multiple shots to get it right.  Try not to use a flare ball, it will only stay on your PAP for about 1-2 revs, through the arrows.....  Ya probably need to get a second person to watch when using a flare ball.  I do it for customers all the time.

maybe my example wasn't clear enough. after you have traced the initial oil ring( the one closest to the thumb and middle finger ) around the ball position the ball so the part of the ball that has the ring is closest to the top of the table. make sure the traced circle around the ball is parallel to the table top. the spot on top of the ball( closest to you ) is your pap. i saw ray edwards of brunswick demonstrate finding your pap this way on a pba telecast back in 1998 or 1999.
