Title: Raging Inferno... dulled (for how long?)
Post by: Not done on April 03, 2004, 05:58:19 AM
I just wanted to know how long a dulling will last... game wise.
I wipe off the ball every frame too.

Thanks

Greetings.  .     How long it lasts depends on a variety of things, since friction  between the ball and lane, is the determining factor.  How much oil do you bowl on, how dry are the 'heads', is the oil pattern long or short, short will generate more friction, what is you rev rate, and on and on.

Everything is just the way it's supposed to be.

long, medium-heavy oil pattern, fairly dry heads, mid rev rate, etc....
I just wanted a rough idea of how long it will last.

I think it will depend on the grit you dull it to. The more course the grit, then the longer it will last. I would not expect it to last much more than 15-20 games before you will need to re-sand it.

I only took mine down to 600, but it would only last 3 league nights, then need re hit. The amount of oil on the lanes is going to matter most. I wipe the ball off every frame, that helps, but you will not get much more than that.
