C-System 2.5 as a Benchmark Ball?
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:44:17 AM »
Hi all,

I really like the motion on the 2.5's I have seen and I was wondering if it would be a suitable benchmark ball for tournaments? I have heard a lot about how angular this ball is, and i thought perhaps this might make it a little uncontrollable off the spot.  In your experience does 2.5 have enough midlane read and control downlane to be be a benchmark?

Thanks for all replies.

Dave

Ordinarily, I'd say no. But if your release has very little tilt and rotation or you drill it with a Rico-type drilling, then it might have the potential to be a benchmark type of ball.

I do have a fair bit of tilt, and a medium rev rate.  It looks like im trying to make an apple an Orange here, ill check out some differant stuff.  Still looks like a great ball though.

I use mine as a benchmark. I have a good deal of hand, along with some forward roll with speed around 16.5 mph.

However, I didn't like it as that right out of the box. I ended up taking mine down to 500 abralon and finished it off with a little rough buff. Now it is fantastic. If you are looking for a good tournament ball, then that's my recommendation. Mine is very controllable. Matter of fact, it's probably the most controllable ball in my bag. The hit and carry are phenomenal.

Let me know if you have further questions about this ball. Don't be afraid to drill one. It won't be too much for you.

Interesting, thanks.  Ill do some more research on it, if i do drill one though i think ill take charlest''s advice and drill it with a lower pin to make sure it gets started up in the midlane consistently. I could also put a bit more suface on it like you did.

Im also thinking about a 505C and a Pure Swing as other options.

I have drilled 4 of the C-2's including 1 for myself. This ball does not seem to over react to spotty lane conditions. If i happen to be trying another ball and find its a little jumpy, i go to the c-2 and it delivers every time. Love this ball and it carries very well. Added a little polish to mine.

Thanks, thats the impression im getting.  Im a little wary of trying to turn a piece thats designed to corner hard into one that doesent.  If i did i would have to put suface on it like you say, or drill it with a lower pin.

Dont worry about it turning too hard off the dry...very angular but still controllable.
Not nearly as strong a ball as I expected.
