Red Alert keeps on going.... any others?
« on: September 19, 2003, 05:08:12 AM »
Hey guys,

Have you ever thrown a ball, and it just seems that it's the only ball you ever have to throw...well... for me it's still the RED ALERT.  I mean, I haven't had to change balls or throw anything else for months now.  The only time I ever throw anything else is when I want to try them out:  Inferno, and others.  And to top all that off last night I shot:  279-265-268=812!  My second 800 series sanctioned and first since Feb. of 2000... and so far for my Thursday night league I'm averaging 245 for 12 games with a ball I got in Aug. of 1999.  Anybody else out there just seem to have a ball that has never failed them, and is just so durable you can throw it forever it seems??  Just wanted to post my thoughts on this, and comments/thoughts are welcome.  Thanks guys!

Chuck

Mine would be my El Nino Gold. I have bought numerous other balls. But I always seem to put this one back in the bag, and it just keeps on going..
I just bought 3 of the 4 hammers blades for this season, Which I love all three of them. But My ENG is always there. I can use it on most conditions. Makes me wonder why I have all these other balls......

Ty

on edit: yes I know this is not a Brunswick ball. I only have 1 Brunswick ball I just got today and have not thrown it yet. It is a Danger Zone...

Hey Ty,

Your last statement said it all, "makes me wonder why I have all these other balls..."  That's exactly the way I've been feeling.  It's not like I haven't known this since like 1999, because anytime I throw this ball I mean anywhere on any condition the Red Alert just ALWAYS works!  So yes, why do I have all these other balls...  I don't know...

chuck you know that when i was still using 16lb. equipment my trusty brunswick johnny petraglia lt-48 gold never failed me. i could use them dull on oily lanes and polished on medium lanes and tear them both up.

Mine would be my Raging Red Fuze.  Either throwing it like a rocket on dry or cranking it on oil, the reaction fits my game great, so it's all I've been using recently.

Being in adult leagues teaches you many things.

1.  You're not on top anymore, but there are a lot more people that suck worse than you do now.

2.  The myth about the youths having an easier shot is NOT TRUE.  I'd have an entire ring collection if it was.

3.  Drunk adults are a lot funnier than drunk youths.

I currently have a tie.....Blueberry Buzzsaw and Forest Green Quantum with the V2 Pearl a wee bit below. I'm like Ty, why do I currently own 6 balls with a 7th on order when these 3 take care of all conditions I run into (light oil, medium/light oil, medium oil and medium/heavy oil in the two houses I bowl in.

Crimson Red Sledgehammer, over and over and over.

Drilled control, it can't always close hard enough but maybe I'll drill one more straight up.

Why do I have all these others anyway!

I have had the exact same experience with the Red Alert.  I keep my mostly dull and it is drilled close to stacked leverage.  It has almost always worked for me.

Mine has been going 3 years strong at least.

Take care,
Scott

Hey guys,

Good to see I'm not the only one out there with some of these antique balls that never fail .  And I know of your love for the LT-48 Gold Greg .  I did see a reply to a topic on the Brunswick site that they have no plans to re-release the RED ALERT, but I hope maybe they change their minds in the future.  Of course, if some distributor wants a batch of them then they'll probably make 'em.  Almost scary to think how many I might buy if they re-release it!  Also agree, the Sapphire Zone is the ball I had my first 800 with, and it still is a ball that I have never heard anyone say anything bad about.  Everyone who threw the Sapphire Zone loved it!  The three elite:  Red Alert, Sapphire Zone, and Danger Zone for sure!  Thanks guys for the replys...been fun to read!
