STRIKE ZONE
« on: August 30, 2006, 01:12:15 PM »
use to throw a zone back in the mid-nineties and then got away from them. BIG MISTAKE on my part.  went into STORM, COLUMBIA 300 and did enjoy them. went into the local pro shop and the owner (DAVE OLM) suggested a STRIKE ZONE. told him that i throw 5 board and some what of a fast ball, 17.5mph.  he drilled it and WHAT A BALL it is. even if i miss the mark out side, it rides the gutter and crushes the pocket. if i miss to the left a couple boards, it goes brooklyn on me, but i still cary at least 9. would recommend this ball to anyone as long as it is driled correctly. DAVE OLM knws about bowling and knows about drilling. with a few questions and measurements, you are off to rolling great games.  got rid of my SWAMP MONSTER once i figured out what i needed to do with this one. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT BALL THAT HITS LIKE A TRUCK, THE STRIKE ZONE IS FOR YOU....

The Zones now are much different than the Zones back earlier this decade and back in the 1990s.  However they are similar to the Danger Zone.  I think they just stuck with the name Zone as a marketing strategy since Zones have been so successful over the years.

That would be correct! When you hear Zone mentioned in a bowling related topic what do you think of? Brunswick! At least thats what I think of automatically.

BTW, im not too impressed with my Strike Zone. The ball is not drilled for me nor does it have the correct hand span. Once I get that fixed I will give it a better chance.

MIKE,  i think once you have it redrilled to your specs, you will find that the ball will work good for you. i know that when i first started to throw it, i had a hard time. but once i found that line that i needed to use, it was fantastic. i was able to shoot a 257 using just that ball and ended up with a 626 series. and that was on a house shot that really sucks. dry 3boards in on left and right, flooded middle to 40ft. could not swing it out, cause it came back too hard and went brooklyn. had to be more consisten with the speed, but once i put all that together, it works great.
