Title: resurface particle

I know you guys know your stuff!! I have a ball spinner,sandpaper,and scotchbrite pads.I need to resurface a particle ball for a buddy of mine.I've heard sandpaper= spareball on particles.Can anyone give me a hand?Yes it should be in the coverstock forum,but you guys always seem to have the answers to my questions.....Thanks!!

sandpaper or scotch-brite pads will work just fine. use plenty of water either way.

Do you think Maroon,then green ,the grey would be a way to go?

check on the ball manufacture's page...should tell you what to use on it..

I usually stick to scotch brite on mine, but have heard sand paper works on most as the particles are strong enough not to be broken...

It's an AMF Triumph.Amf doesn't seem to have anything about their balls.I use Morich,Brunswick,and Storm.It's for a friend I don't wanna mess it up!

I would e-mail AMF and ask them.  As you said, on some particle balls, sanding will destroy the reaction.  I think it's mostly an issue with softer types of particles getting sanded flat.  Other types, like some of the older Big B particles that had Trizact finishes won't be affected but sanding won't do that much good because the particles are too hard.  Not all types of particles are affected the same way, so you'll have to ask the manufacturer how to do it.

Thanks for all the help.....Anyone know how to restore the colored writing on the ball? Could I go over it with crayon?Is there something better?

I hand a evolution tour by AMF that becaame a spare ball because of sanding it to much. Brunswick actually says sanding there particle balls will not hurt them.

I think Brian Voss uses a black marker to color in the labels on his TNTs so that they're all black.  If you sand the color out of the grooves, you can use a marker (maybe a glittery one) to trace back through it.

Crayons work great. I do that myself, but you have to redo it after 15-20 cleanings.
