Cover Stock On Absolute Inferno & Vapor Zone
« on: June 25, 2006, 05:36:05 PM »
Does the Absolute Inferno and Vapor Zone have the same cover stocks with the difference between the balls being the AI is systmetric and the VZ assymetric?

The VZ having an asymmetric core in it will allow more tuning options when it is being drilled.  I have an AI because a person I bowl with picked up a VZ and found it to fit their game better.

Thanks guys. A friend of mine here on BR (mrbowlingnut) has me almost 100% convinced to get a VZ. After having bad luck with an Impulse Zone approx 15-16 months or so ago, I swore that I would never buy another Brunswick ball again, but it looks like I may have to eat crow as I am now leaning really-really-really hard towards getting a VZ.

Great ball... It found a lot more use on TV than the IZ did.

TV time should never be used to judge whether to get a ball or not.  As for the Vapor Zone, its a very good ball, controllable strong arc with a bit of pop on the backend.  Just wondering about your impulse, did you leave it in box finish and get alot of over under.

For me, the box finish was terrible.  The ball would read the mids very poorly and become unpredictable.  Since it covered so many boards my first instinct was to polish it higher which didn't help at all.  In a last ditch effort I sanded it figuring I could use it for heavy, however the sanding didn't really make the ball hook a whole lot more it just gave it some more control.

It was really like nite and day.  I had always changed surfaces just to fine tune ball reaction, but this change gave the ball a lease on life.  Some times the oob finish doesn't match up for someone in the least bit and a surface change is needed.

2nd that!  The impulse was good, but very condition specific, the VZ was my go to ball last season.  I haven't touched a ball since April.  I wonder if they are lonely???

Yes, but for my wife.  I bought her a Nemesis in place of the IZ and sold it.
