Mammoth as an oil ball
« on: February 07, 2007, 03:16:48 AM »
I am looking for an oil ball that will get me thru the first game on a shot I cant seem to get the ball up to the hole. I have a robo rule and want something that will absolutely, positively without a doubt hook or have some kind of movement on oil.

Thanks

The Mammoth is definitely a HEAVY OIL ball. It comes about 400 grit from the factory, and for me it was dead before it reached the pins. I adjusted it to about 1000 and then it became much better.  This is a heavy-load particle ball so it differs from the Ambush in that regard.

If you leave it at the factory 400 grit surface you'd better be bowling in the Exxon Valdez, or you'd better be throwing it very hard AND with no revs.

I don't want to discourage your purchase, just remember to change the surface if you want to have any area on the lanes to play with. Mine is a great oil ball now, but at first I was very frustrated with it. Good luck.

I got this ball for my girlfriend for Christmas and it rolls great for her. She has a Track Rule GP2 that she had to point at the pocket but with this ball she can let it roll and play up the boards.

I guess the ball works OK for me in oil. Shot out of box, 234 with a missed 4 pin. 297 second game leaving the 4-6-10 on the last ball, pulled it a bit as this was the first time in 31 years I had the front 11.

Started with the front 4 third game and left the 6-10 in the 6 or 7th frame and chopped it. Shot 244 for a 775 and 2 opens for an old man of 56.

Well, if 775 is the best you can do with it, put it away as it shouldn't be any less than 778.  Nice shooting shipper and keep up the big scores, best of luck to you!

Would agree that the Mammoth is the ball to look at.

Last night in league, I was able to shoot a 604 with my sons ball. House strips and heavy oils in the morning. Then before league starts, they put a filler medium pattern down. So there is a lot of carry down to deal with. Took my sons Mammoth and was able to keep the ball on line and in the pocket.

So for a heavy oil ball, I would suggest the Mammoth...

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE, ONSLAUGHT, REVS, FLIP & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!
