Scorchin X-blem $49 @ Bowling Ball. Com
« on: November 16, 2006, 04:42:55 AM »
I just received an e-mail for some specials @ Bowling Ball. Com. They have 15 pound x-out Scorchins for $69 minus $10 newsletter discount plus $10 Google checkout discount. Final price = $49.99 shipped.

I figured at this price it was worth taking a chance.

Thought everyone should be fully aware of Google's policies,
as listed at Google Checkout, concerning their promotion of
$10 off $30 when placing an order through Google Checkout.

In an effort to provide a safe purchasing environment for all of our
users, Google reviews orders on a regular basis.

During a recent review, we noticed you've placed several orders using our
recent promotion. This promotion may not be used to purchase items for
resale, and we also do not allow buyers to split orders to unfairly take
advantage of the discount provided. For example, an order containing 2
items that total $60 should not be split into two orders of $30 as a way
to receive additional discounts.

We review accounts regularly to ensure a safe purchasing environment for
our buyers and sellers. We hope that everyone understands the reasons for our
policies, and we trust that you'll make use of the rules and promotion
requirements outlined above. Keep in mind that continued use of this
promotion that does not comply with the previously mentioned guidelines
may result in order cancellation or account closure.

Sincerely,

The Google Checkout Team

OK keith, so what does this mean to us that bought multiple gift certs and used them to purchase items from your company? ALOT of people on here did that when you posted about how great this deal was..

You told us it was OK to split the orders didn't you? So we could get the additional discounts..

Not sure what this post means. If its just an FYI, OK..

Got mine today! 16.1 lb. 1.7oz. top 2-3" pin (I did not specify when I ordered)

There are no stampings at all on the ball to mark it as a 2nd. The only stamping is the serial #

My local pro shop which is actually owned by bowlingball.com has this ball drilled for $99. They normally charge $50 to drill a ball so that makes this ball $49. They have one that they polished up and that alone removed about 95% of the haze. I don't have a hvy oil ball so I think I will get one from them. It is just too good of price to pass up.

I got my second today... this one has the same haze as the previous, but also had a lot of white swirled in with the red and black... actually looked pretty nice.  I took it into the shop and hit it with 500 grit abralon, followed by 1000 grit, and 2000 grit, and ebonite extender polish.  This removed any sign of the white haze... as I suspected, it was only surface.  The white swirl was still in the ball though.

I drilled the ball out with the pin above and between my fingers (approx 5 1/4" pin to PAP) and cg out a little with a small weight hole on my PAP.  I took it out for a few shots on day old open play carry down.  The ball was very smooth rolling...  seemed to get through the heads fairly well... I had to play a more direct shot due to all the carry down, but the ball hit fine.  I think on a fresh shot, this ball is going to roll very nice..  once I get a few more games, I'll post a full review.
