Scorchin X-blem $49 @ Bowling Ball. Com
« on: November 16, 2006, 04:42:55 AM »
I just received an e-mail for some specials @ Bowling Ball. Com. They have 15 pound x-out Scorchins for $69 minus $10 newsletter discount plus $10 Google checkout discount. Final price = $49.99 shipped.

I figured at this price it was worth taking a chance.

Recieved mine today also. 15.4oz 2-3 pin 2.9 top. Like everyone else's mine just looks a little washed out. I'm going to try it without but figure I'll end up putting some polish on it in order to use it with my slower ball speed anyway. Outta look great with some polish!

Received mine today also. 15lb 3oz, Pin 2"-3" and tw 3.5. Great specs since I did not request any. The color looks just like everyone elses. Great ball for $49.99. Now if I could just get the remaining 3 gift certificates that I bought. One has made it to my email, but still waiting on three more.

yes sir!  99.9% of my balls see polish.  i turn the ball
too much for a dull surface.  although my Storm Razor Wire
is sanded at 1000 grit and i do like the reaction i get with
that ball.

i only put 1 coat of polish.  i dont want it too skid flippy.
i did that with the razor wire and it was a beast on a fresh shot
with clean backends, but once there was carry down it was over/under
big time.  it screamed through the heads and midlane and "left turn clyde"
on the back. but i did have about 4 or 5 coats of polish on it.
havent tried the black magic yet.  my bottle of magic shine is almost out,
i may try black magic or brunswick factory polish.

Just received my Scorching.  As you can tell by the pics, the color looks very washed out.  As if the ball was bleached or left out in the sun.  15lbs, 2.7 top, 3-4 pin.  Can't wait to have it punched this weekend.

Very funny!  I actually saw one of these sitting in a pro shop.....being sold as a 1st quality ball!  I thought it looked a little washed out, but wasn't sure.

Funny that a lot of pro shops will bash on-line places and tell customers that they will most likely get a 2nd quality product by ordering on-line!

I just received mine this morning (well... it was actually here wed night but I wasn't)...  As described previously, the ball appears to have a light white haze in the cover (see photos), but everything else is perfect.  It reminds me (for those of us here in the northeast) of the nights when I forget to bring equipment inside from the vehicle (actually, I'm not so sure that some of it wasn't due to the ball spending two nights outside my front door).  I'm probably going to play around this afternoon to see whether a light sanding will remove this or if the haze is throughout the entire coverstock.  Either way, its not a big deal.  The only other indication of the ball being a second was an "S" stamped inside the Brunswick B logo.  I received a 3" pin with 3.1 oz top (and that was without requesting specific specs).  So far, appears to be a "steal" for that price.  Thanks BB.com!

threw 2 coats of magic shine on it and it took care of the
white wash look.

The REALLY funny thing is the Scorching on the shelf at the pro shop looked exactly like mine.    The PSG stated a scotch brite pad will bring the color back out.
