Title: Scorching or polished pearl? Red zone?
Post by: 528hemi on August 23, 2006, 11:48:41 AM
Needing to buy a new ball. Currently using a Ultimate inferno polish
over 200 games.
Seen alot of bowlers using the scorching but all of them have polished them as the bowl hooks to much in OOB condition for our leauge play.

My question is, Are you defeating the purpose of the ball if you buy a scorching and drill it to go longer and polish it? Would you get the same reaction from a pearlized ball drilled to roll early?
Would I be better off just buying a Red zone in OOB vrs a scorching then polishing it or a pearlized cover stock ball?

Thanks for any help...

For sheer practicality, a Red Zone OOB is your best bet. It will be a ball that will favor most conditions you will see.

Thanks for the fast response Nick! Just what I wanted to hear. I dont throw much speed 14.75 to 15 MPH medium track and don't put alot of revs on the ball (but not a stroker either). How would you suggest to drill it? I feel most comfortable playing anywhere inside to straight down the 8 board.

Thanks Again

I have not thrown a Red Zone yet, but I do have the Strike zone and a Scorchin.  While I like both balls, if someone told me I could only keep one of them, it would be the Strike Zone.  I also say get the Red Zone.
