ScreamR or Red/Black
« on: May 13, 2003, 05:18:40 PM »
I'm having some trouble with my current league shot.  The lanes I bowl on are 20+ year old wood, and the oil breaks down really fast.  It's a semi-wall pattern, but sometimes there can be an out of bounds if you play a big swing shot.  I need something that I can square up with a little bit, get through the heads, and have a mild back end.

My best shot lately has been with a Thunder Flash drilled 4.5 x 4 and polished to 1000 grit, but it still covers a little too much ground once the oil starts to go.  My Big Hit Pearl is usually ok in the last game, but the back end is big, and a bit tricky to control on this shot.

I have an NIB SceamR and an NIB Monster Red/Black, both with 2 - 3" pins.  Do you think one of these with a label drill would fit the bill.  Which would be better, and is there a different drill pattern I should consider?  See my profile for other details.

i've owned both of these balls and they both are great for what they were intended for. the red/black monster will handle the drier condition a little better. the screamR will handle the medium condition better. i had both drilled label leverage and had great results with both. if you want a milder backend try placing the pin closer to your pap or the track. you could also refrain from polishing the ball to lessen the backend. try wetsanding the ball VERY smooth( 1,500 to 3,000 grit )and not polishing it. good luck !
