Vapor Zone does it again (rocked the house)
« on: January 05, 2006, 01:38:38 PM »
Some of you guys might remember my last post about the Vapor Zone rockin the house with a 279 game with a 714 series.

Well tonight, no 700 but close as one can get to hitting it (699) with the games 187 (i was getting a mental readjustment from a buddy who showed me he knew alot more about this game of bowling) after his training session, I roll out of the house shooting 234 then 278. This time I shot the 1st 9, then 1st ball in the 10th leaving the 6-10. Its only a matter of time before i get my 1st sanctioned 300.

Great Ball from the Big B!

Thank You and when you get your Vapor Zone, You will love it. Once I did some minor surface adjusting (added a little more surface to the already rough buff OOB finish) then the ball really started to shine for me.

Nice shooting. I shot a 722 with my Vapor Zone last wednesday in leagues. 255-214-253. As with you I adjusted the cover, I hit it with a green Scotch-Brite and then finished it with Hi-gloss.

My VZ is drilled with the pin 1" > and .5" ^ from the ring finger and the CG about 5"> of center. Im a righty. Drilled for controlled big hook, no X-hole needed. When I got the ball I tried using it in the OOB Finish, i didnt like how it was reacting so I took off some of the shine that was left. Its not dull but its not a semi gloss either. Doing that gave me more read in the midlane with more aggresive backend snap. It no longer resembles my Rampage as it finally does what I wanted from it and why I purchased it in the 1st place.

I just used mine for the firs titme last night. Wow does this ball kick at the end when it hits friction. It definitely is an Absolute Inferno but cleaner through the front and more angular in the back. But it still has a hard arcing angular backend compare to arcing like the AI.

I used it out of box and it ain't too bad. But i can see it does burn
energy. I was thinking of polishing it with reactive shine. Would it
make it go longer and have more energy in the back?

You lost me here...does this apply *only* to the Vapor Zone?  How odd...

Yeah this is what the game needs, someone bowls well and a person feels the need to explain to them that they are marginal at best and any success is due to the condition not them.

Whoa whoa guys. My Wednesday and Thursday night leauges are no on a walled shot. Yes theres a little less oil on the out side but trust me, get the ball outside 7 on both sides and you can bet to see the "fence" (1-2-4-7 for a righty). Teusday the shot is walled. So is Friday. My averages reflect the difference between the walled and not wall houses. 195 teusday night, 180, wednesday, 186 Thursday (same house on Wed/Thurs) then 197 on Friday.

Im not braggin about how I shot or saying its all equipment. The ball does nothing without someone there to execute the shot for the ball. I only posted this because the Brunswick Vapor Zone is my alllllllll time favorite ball. Im so comfortable with the ball and its shot that I will be buying another vapor zone or 2 and just holding on to them should my current ball wear out, get damaged or stolen.

Anyway, I did not start this topic for you guys to start bickering like teenage girls. If you dont have anything to say then please dont post it, thank you.

I would do a light shine 1st before you go too crazy with the polish. Do steps with the shine till you get the reaction your after. If you went too far, use a green pad to knock off the shine. Getting ball reaction is all about playing with the surface till you are happy. I never used to play with the cover of a ball cause at that time I wasnt at this level of the game, secondly I was afraid that I would mess up the cover beyond repair (i know it takes alot for that to happen now) and back then I was just working on the basics.

Oh by the way, Charlest, I know Im not the best on the planet and I never will say I am the best because I know a walled shot will hide 95% of all the little errors that a typical bowler makes during leauge play. If was the best around id be on Tour right now and not sitting here posting this. Wed/Thurs nights show me that I have some flaws that are major and some that arent too bad but still hamper my scoring potential. I know I need to get away from the THS conditions. Starting this summer I will be bowling in 2 sport shot leauges and a PBA simulator leauge out in Island Lake at the 3-D Bowl. The leauge is ran by I think Dave Traber. (dont even go there with hating on him, hes a great person to talk with outside of bowling) I have plans to take my bowling to higher standards with tougher shots that require better accuracy on hitting your marks and ball speed will be more critical then on a THS pattern. I will be buying 3 balls and they will be speciffically drilled for Sport/PBA patterns. (Classic Zone Green Pin, Vapor Zone, and Strike Zone)

Anyway, im off topic here. Just dont knock someone that you dont really know thats all. Im just publicly posting stuff that im proud of doing. Is 278 an honor score, no but it is a personal honor score that im proud of doing.

Charlest,

You are one of the reasons that I don't post on this site to often. I wished i would have talked to you before spending money on coaching and all the hours of practice i put in to become a better bowler.Hell if you  would have told me its just the ball or the lane conditions that make the bowler I could have saved a sh*tload of money. Charlest you are a F**k

Wait let me try to understand this. Its not the person rolling the ball that allows him to score well, its the ball and the lanes themselves?? OHHH now I completely understand it!! No wonder Robert Muschire can roll 900's like he claims to do!!! Holy crap im gonna go out and put my ball on the floor tonight at leauges and just watch it roll to the pocket ON ITS OWN and knock down everything it touches.

Sorry Charlest, its not that simple. Sounds to me like your the kind of bowler that complains about your equipment or lane conditions or both when your not scoring well. If this is the case, you need to learn how to bowl all over again. I have a friend that complains about the oil pattern, his equipment, or a ton of other things to why hes bowling like trash. Hes made up a billion excuses. "oh the guy 12 lanes down threw his ball when i was on the approach, oh someone coughed during my release, oh someone walked in the door while I was throwing my 11th strike which caused me to pull it, oh........." sadly enough this guy has 3 300's. It disgusts me but what can i do? nothing. Just have to start throwing 300's, missed it 3 times this week alone.

Scooter, this is not directed to you, just simply realizing what charlest was getting at. Took your post for me to understand what he meant by his response.
