Presumably by a machine.

The box finish is 400 wet sand.

I enjoy mine quite a bit, very smooth rolling ball.  Color wise, there is a pic in my profile if you wish to see it.

Dunno...but I did hear that there will be a new sanded solid Power Groove released sometime this year.  Evidently the old colors weren't conducive to sales or some such.

I also have a sanded PG, but I put a couple coats of the Brunswick polish on it.  I concur with Dan's observation--very smooth reaction, much more so than the pearl PGs.

I have one with a Rico1 layout.  Rough Buff applied to it right out of the box finish.  It's the smoothest ball in my bags and the most condusive to playing direct on a house shot.  I really love this ball when the track is beyond burnt and the best look is inside of 4-5th arrow and you have to bump it to the track late.  Hit/finish is above average, nothing out of the ordinary.  Any oil/carrydown down the lane will hurt the finishing power of this ball.  With the Rough Buff on it it's definately good for feeding the friction area of the lane.

The out of box finish was just way too much ball.  Literally started going left before 20 feet.

so for someone who does NOT like skid/snap, this would be a good ball for me to add to the arsenal for the state tourney, yes?

Go ahead and Add it.  I think it's impossible to get this one to skid/snap.  It's definately night and day from it's pearlized cousins.  I picked mine up off ebay for $33 shipped NIB, no cost to drill and it's multiplied its worth already tenfold and I've only used it a total of about 20 games.  I'm awaiting some extra cash so I can stockpile these, the Bruisers, and Red Pin classics that are going dirt cheap on ebay.

That's the Groove, not the Power Groove. groove has pancake core and is plain urethane. PG has offset blocks for large flare and has PK 17 resin coverstock.

Jeff,

I have one with pin under middle finger & sanded to 1500 grit. Even I must play up the boards with this one & I better find a whole chunk of dry for it to make that move.
