Need layout help for sarge easter
« on: March 17, 2006, 12:36:26 PM »
I posted this under Drill and Layouts but did't get much response, so I am hoping Brunsnick can share his setup or anyone else...thanks
I have a guy who wants to try a sarge easter. I verified his span on the ball he wants to convert and his middle span is good at 5". His ring was 5 1/16". This will be plugged. He is a lefty. My question is how do you determine the span for his new conventional ring figer and what forward/reverse and left/right do you use to get a good release? Is there a good rule of thumb to start with and then fine tune ? He has average flexibility in his fingers and thumb. Thumb is at 1/4 reverse and 1/4 left (under palm). Thanks for any info...I searched the last 30 days and didn't find layout help....Al

Measure the ring finger like you would for a normal conventional span, pitch that finger 5/8th left (right for a righty). For the amount of reverse, here is a decent starting point for pitch based on span.

< 3 1/2" = 1/8th REV
3 1/2 - 3 3/4 = 1/4 REV
3 3/4 - 4 = 3/8th REV
4 - 4 1/4 = 1/2 REV

These are starting points, take into account their flexibility and whether they have dry/sweaty hands.

Hope that helps.. if not, I will consult my Magic 8 Ball.

BrunsNick, Thanks for sharing this knowledge of which I am sure took you some time to figure out on your own grip. I am grateful and I'm sure my buddie is too.

Thanks, Al

You're welcome!

Remember that the idea is you want that finger to feel like it disappears when in the ball. If you feel any strain, then adjustments should be made.

Feel free to PM me if you run into any problems.

Just what does this grip do?? What did it do for your own game? I PM'ed you with this same topic but never got a response. Im trying to get some information about this grip, if its gonna kill revs I might not need it, it might help me on fried lanes though if its a rev killer. Thanks for your time.
