Are you a ball junkie?
« on: June 29, 2006, 12:34:33 PM »
Now that I have a good six ball arsenal for me (five balls for different conditions and a spare ball) I should be satisified.  But I probably won't be and will be looking for different balls, new balls, etc.  Why is this?  How does an otherwise normal person become a ball junkie?  And, is this a bad thing?

I'm a ball junkie and proud of it.  Everyone around me thinks I am insane (and I only have 6 balls in play right now) but I love getting a new piece and using it, especially since I am bowling the Regional patterns at the moment.  If you are bowling on a THS then I would recommend only plastic, a med-low hook potential ball and a med-high hook potential ball.  If bowling tournaments and complicated shots then there is definitely justification for the equipment frenzy.  As one very talented bowler once told me, you can take the most flawless bowler, put the wrong ball in his hand, and he will become a mere mortal.  It's all about matching up to create area, something everyone needs.
