original inferno
« on: January 15, 2008, 02:42:19 PM »
i am breaking out some of my old bowling balls and going to resurface them. 1 of these is the brunswick original inferno. here is my problem/question. i have a spinner and i was going to resurface this ball but i do not know what grit to resurface it to. only thing i can find on it is that the factory finish is polished. which doesnt help me. i can sand it down then polish it but i need to know what grit i should sand it down to, to get back as close to factory specs as possible. i am thinking about 800 grit but thats only a guess. anyone know the correct answer? or ill take guesses too lol
thanks
jeff

Jeff, take a look at the bottle: Brunswick recommend for their High Gloss Polish a 400 grit base before applying the polish to get back to OOB condition. For a resurfacing, sand the OI with a brown pad (about 320 grit) and then bring it to 400 before you add polish. Anyway, finer grits are not wrong and might be useful if you need more length and snap from the OI.
