Cliff's Notes on my ball topic
« on: August 14, 2006, 09:18:59 PM »
Looking hard at a Red Zone.  Need a good drill pattern.  My pap is 5 3/8ths over and 3/8ths up.  The pattern I'll probably use it on most is 39 feet med-heavy oil with strong backends, it doesn't have a wall either, it has an OB outside 5.  I'll use it around 3rd arrow or just inside.  Rev rate is 300-325, speed is about 17.5.  Ball roll is similar to Steve Jaros, I kinda flip it out there like he does, angle of rotation is about the same, and I've finally managed to get a clean roll, I don't over-rev it (kill it) and I don't just fling it out there and rely on a wall or strong backends, I can create a shot if I don't really have one.  Just worried about the ball hook/setting or flattening out.  I've had trouble with asymmetric cores doing that.  Just how strong a ball is it?  I was thinking something like pin over ring, psa out about 2-3 inches from my thumb.  Suggestions?

HamPster, great question as I am thinking of getting a Red Zone punched up as well. I haven't seen that many here in the S.F. Bay Area, but hopefully I'll get my hands on one should I decide to.

Ric, nice recommendation. I was talking to Dan and he pretty much has the layout you recommended to Hampster. I seem to like those Pin under bridge layotus with MB at around 45-60 degrees. My Pap is 5 1/2 over and 5/8^ with a power tweener type release. Hmmmmm...Red Zone...*contemplates*

Regards,
Ram
