Title: This really bothers me...
Post by: CG_Matters on August 04, 2006, 01:35:14 AM
Was surfing the online retailers and hit one of the larger sites.... bowlingball.com.  I know that they mix and match Brunswick covers and cores and release them on limited runs.  What I saw today was nothing short of stupid.

http://www.bowlingball.com/Product/4251/info.html

Why the heck don't ya just call it a MONTSTER BRUISER?  $129.99 plus bb.com's high shipping rates, I would hardly call this a deal.

So...for all of you seegee nomaddah boys....get yourself another Bruiser or two before they really are all gone.

FWIW...  according to their "perfect scale" the Fuze is bigger than the Bruiser.

I've done business with this company in the past and everything was perfect.  THey have great prices, but now you have to wonder what you're really getting with some of their stuff.

Is this "Fuze" USBS approved?  I realize it's a Bruiser with a different logo and color scheme (where have we heard that before? <g>, but from their perspective, it'd have to be approved separately.  Likewise for the Quantum remakes that have been floating around.

Didn't think about USBC approval on those pieces.  We may have to do a little research.

All, this ball is made by Brunswick Korea's request, they call this
a Privale Label ball.
http://www.brunswickkorea.co.kr/ball_fb.html
I think this is Korea only because we can't see itin other Asian countries.

zone,

This makes a little bit of sense now, but why wouldn't he market it as an overseas release?  Sounds like he would be leaving himself open to hear from unhappy customers who find out that they may not be able to use their ball in certain leagues or competitions.

jls,

I have no interest in purchasing this ball.  The point of my post was that the Bruiser is out under a different name and bowlingball.com has it severely overpriced.

CG, I agree with you. $129 same as a Radical. The Fuze is overpriced.
BTW, this ball already release around 12 months.
Last year, I want to order a X-men Viz thru bowlingball.com - $99
This year - $134
Any idea on that???

Yeah...that # on the Zone is solid.

This "Bruiser" is no different than listing a Ravage II, III, IV or V on ebay with a starting bid of $200.00

Haven't seen any.  As I said, we're not a big Ebo town.  I've seen one guy with The One and he seems to like it.  Another with a Big One but from watching him and talking to him, I think the decision to buy it was made on the part of the driller and not the bowler.  "I want something that hooks a lot."  "Ok, the Big One hooks plenty, way more than that Rampage."

I don't know if you're aware of the bowling Twilight Zone I live in.  No spray-and-pray, stand-left-throw-right kids, no ball-of-the-month people with more balls than sense, and we don't have 300/800 shot every other week like they're nothing.

Hey mav...if you look closely...you quoted his signature line.  I don't think that was a shot at you.

SO....DOES ANYBODY ELSE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS PIECE ON BOWLINGBALL.COM?

and about the topic.

these rehashes have been going on for a LONG time.

i dont agree with it, but being in the american market, and those "rehashes" being overseas, we're really not supposed to know about them.

I have never commented on a message board before. However, after this topic was pointed out to me by a fellow bowler I thought it best to reply personally. I would first like to address the Fuze overseas release. We have corrected the listing; this is an overseas release and not a ball that we had made. The specs are close to the Bruiser, but they are unique to this ball. We only have a few and we certainly are not intending to mislead anyone. Yes, this is a higher price point that the Monster Bruiser. Is it worth? Maybe not, but it is not overpriced. Some people just love having that unique product that no one else can get. As for the remarks concerning ebay and responding to email I can proudly and honestly say that I personally still respond to over 90% of all email that is directed to our site. I spend many hours daily making sure that our customer service is second to none. I do my very best to keep in touch with what bowlers want and attempt to keep an eye out for any issues that we need corrected. I can also say that I have never deleted an email or left an emailed unanswered. We do have many that end up in junk mail due to the customer using AOL, Yahoo, and other sites that focus on filtering emails. If anyone emails our website or emails us via any of our auctions that email is answered, usually by me. If you want to make sure that I personally answer you please address the email to the attention of Keith Spear. I will answer your email personally. I owe much to the loyal bowlers who have helped make us successful. I hope that I never feel too important or too big to take the time to answer anyone who has been the sole reason for our success. I want to remain the same person that I was when life was a financial struggle, and please believe me when I tell you that I have been at the bottom. In fact, that is where I started out in life.  By the way, I do not take criticism personally, its how I learn from the people who have made our business successful. We not only value your opinion and criticism we welcome and encourage people to email us when they have a concern.

Thank you to all of our customers to whom I am sincerely indebted

thanks for addressing this Keith.

I've bought a lot of equipment from your company.

but, whats the trick to getting the Pin/Top you want on ebay listings?

ive had better luck keeping it simple in the notes, like 2" Pin 2 Ounce Top.

Thanks,

Eric

As far as I know, there is no trick. If you ask for a specific pin and top weight, they DO give it to you IF THEY HAVE IT. I know, as I have done that more than a few times. However, if they don't have what you ask for, they do honor your request by giving you the closest they have. But remember, you may have purchased a ball for 10% of wholesale and the deal is done and fixed. You've won an auction and have promised to buy a ball. You were not promised a ball with particular specification, JUST a specific model of the ball.

understood, but i have made a request of 2-4" PIN and 2.0-3.0 Top and got 4.7 Top, followed by the same ball again and said 3" pin 2.0-3.0 Top and got 4.0.

so towards the end of my buying online i kept it simple and got what i wanted.

i.e. 2" Pin 2 Top

Bowlingball.com is great!  I love all the unique stuff they sell.  Also, they are a good place to find some older equipment.  I just got my X-Factor Vertigo in the mail today (came one day after ordering) and I couldn't be happier.  The pin and top weight were what I asked for and I got it for an amazing price.

I want to check out some of these Quantums they sell when I get the chance.

Keith,

Thanks for your reply and for throwing some light on things.  The price tag is a bit easier to handle with it being an overseas release.  Would I pay it?  No, probably not since it still just comes off as a Bruiser to me.  I understand why people what "different" things that others can't get their hands on.  I used to be one of those who once had a Wiseman Rebel and a Ravage II.  However, during that period, I never paid much more than the current price of the original ball that these were meant to replicate.

I have had many successful transactions with bb.com and one or two that I was a bit disappointed with.  I wouldn't be afraid to use bb.com again in a pinch, but those shipping charges and "packing fees" are killer.

But the thing is, sometimes even with packing fees they are cheaper than others.

Thank you for pointing that out. We do not have new balls made using old technology. We do remake a ball with the original specs from time to time and call it by it original name. Example: Our Quantum line. This Brunswick Fuze Blue/Silver is a mixture of current Brunswick technology and is an overseas release. We did not have the ball made for ourselves. After reviewing your comments we did correct the pricing. We have lowered the price of the ball by $30.00. We only have a few left in just a few weights. Integrity is an important part of our business. As always, thanks to everyone that has helped make bowlingball.com number one.
