Arsenal for my first tourney.
« on: March 01, 2005, 11:29:31 AM »
Well, I am bowling in my first city league tourney; Hawaii TV Bowling.  Each week the tourney, (singles, doubles, mixed, teams), is held at a different house around the island of Oahu.  This week it's being held at Pearl Harbor Naval Sub Base.  I'm pretty stoked, plus I am happy it's my 35th birthday this Friday.  Here's what I have at my disposal.....

Goliath
TimeZone
Absolute
Classic
Rhino Pro Teal
SlayR

What would you recommend ?

Most of the tourney shots are usually THS or mild SPORT shots.

Seriously?

I guess it wouldn't hurt, especially since my wife will be there with me and can ball run to the truck if needed.

BTW, I finally got the Chickenwing under control.

It may be a hassle, but would you rather take 3 or something and then say "Ah darn, i really could have used -----"???

Yay, no more chicken wing!  what did you do to solve it?  Lower backswing?

I had to mentally convince myself to NOT bend my arm and then physically check myself during practice.  Plus changing my thumb pitch to ZERO helped keep my hand and arm in position for a proper release.  I am actually revving the ball without much effort now.  I can't remember the name of the website where I read about how to rev it like the pros but I applied what I read and wah-lah.  Oh yeah, and I went with a 4 step approach.  Sometimes I still feel my elbow bend a bit but it's not as pronounced as it was a week ago.

My Classic is kinda hokey.  It's a blem with a red pin and there's hardly any movement on the back end.  I think either the pro shop guy got it wrong or the core has separated.  I can use it as a spare ball though.  I got he Rhino drilled tonight so I will roll it tomorrow during lunch.  Plus I got the TimeZone and Goliath back from changing the thumb pitches.

I hope to have some new vids on Saturday.

I read bowl4fun.com all afternoon.  I was bored at work.  Plenty of great information for all kine bowlers.    I'm not there yet but I am getting there.
