Thanks to a fellow BR member here's a description:

Brunswick is pleased to introduce their newest high-performance bowling ball called the TWISTED FURY DESTRUCTION. The ball is cleared for Professional Bowlers Association competition beginning October 13, 2008.

Coverstock
The new XLerator coverstock has been formulated with two main goals in mind. First, to create length through the heads, both when they’re fresh and after they’ve broken down. Second, to create a strong angular move at the breakpoint in order to provide increased pin-carrying ball reaction. The XLerator coverstock succeeds at achieving both of these goals, giving you unparalleled reaction with a ball that gets to the spot and returns hard to the pocket.

Core Technology
Good coverstocks become great when paired with a core that accentuates their strengths. After testing a wide range of cores (both new and old designs) with the new XLerator coverstock, the core that gave the absolute best reaction was the Torsion Asymmetric Core. This core/coverstock combo makes the Twisted Fury Destruction rev up hard and hug the lane without hooking early. The medium RG asymmetric design of the core then turns loose the power of the coverstock on the back-end, unleashing destructive force on the pins.

Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: With its Rough Buff finish, the Twisted Fury Destruction will provide excellent length and a strong angular back-end reaction to match up on medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions for a wide range of bowling styles.
If your Twisted Fury goes too long: Dull the surface with 800-grit abrasive to get the Twisted Fury Destruction to roll sooner and increase its hooking action.
If your Twisted Fury hooks too early: Polish your Twisted Fury Destruction with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish to get extra length.

The specifications for the Brunswick Twisted Fury Destruction are: Core: Medium RG: Coverstock: XLerator: Color: Pacific Blue & Chrome: Hardness: 76-77: RG: Rating (actual) 2.512: (differential): 0.036: Asymmetry: 0.023: Weights: 12-16: Hook Potential: 115: Length: 115: Breakpoint Shape: 85:

Sounds just like another regular ball release. Does not claim to do anything different.

Maybe rename a couple parts of the ball and a color change to sell a few more ?

Having said that, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this looks like ...

I would like to see Brunswick make some higher RG releases in their product lines.  I think a high RG, medium diff. ball in the Fury line would be a winner for some lighter oil patterns.

Why would anyone pay high end ball prices for lighter a oil ball when the Avalanches work great for half the price.

Joe Jr,

Even the Avalanche's RG's are around 2.54-2.55 for RG, which is still pretty darn low, and the ones I have seen still roll early on light oil, even if they were meant for it.  The problem with alot of Brunswick balls are that you can't stand on it, even with a length drilling or surface adjustment, because the damn thing wants to roll early. It wouldn't kill Brunswick to make a ball that was made to go long and have a even arcing hard flip now would it?

I agree that it wouldn't hurt them to have a high RG, medium to low diff ball in there lineup, but as a high end ball it would never sell. Nobody will pay $150+ for a ball that doesn't hook.

2.55 is not considered low by todays standards.  There are balls released that have RGs in the 2.45-2.47 range now.  Another thing to consider, is that if you want to take a ball and make it a skid flip reaction, take a Twisted Fury Pearl (RG 2.54, diff .03) and take the cover up to 2000 with some Brunswick Factory Finish High Gloss on it.  Stock surface is like 400 with Rough Buff which is a reason why those balls tend to want to roll early.  If cover is 70% of ball roll, taking it to 2000 with some polish will make the ball want to go really long and flip hard with the correct drilling of course.  For those that want to "get on it" a simple adjustment of the surface with the TF will give the bowler the skid/flip reaction they are looking for.

In case you missed it, this is a new coverstock. When compared side-by-side to a few of the very popular releases from other manufacturers it loooked very good, all at a lower price point than Brunswick has had for a high end ball.

Joe Jr, I agree with you that a ball with the specs I mention would not sell well in the $150+ price range, but I was thinking of they made that type of ball in the Fury line and priced it lower, in the $120 range, it would sell very well.  Plus, it would give bowlers a great compliment to their Twisted Fury and Twisted Fury Solid.  It would make for a great three ball lineup, and you could cover everything from light oil to heavy oil with three balls, all in the same lineup.

Steven, I understand what you're saying, and I have a spinner and pro shop access to drill my own stuff, so it's not a big deal for me to change the cover to get what I want.  I was going more for the marketing end of the Fury line, and I would like to see them have balls that compliment each other well, and if they made a new Twisted Fury with a high RG and med. diff they could cover everything bowlers would need in one line of balls.

Brunswick had a Limited Edition Fury Tour Edition.  My guess is Brunswick agrees with both of you.  They were aware of the need that MainePBA states, but also knows the masses aren't going to let a medium to high-end ball that is for dry lanes become a big seller.

I'm not sure but wasn't the Tour Edition just another blem?
