Title: ULTRA ZONE
Post by: averagebowler on October 04, 2008, 12:31:00 PM
I BOUGHT THIS BALL BUT I HAD IT DRILLED THE NUMBER #1 DRILL WHERE THE PIN UNDER THE FINGERS. WELL I HAVE MIX FEELINGS. BUT  IN OTHER HAD IT JUST COULD BE ME. I JUST DIDN'T LIKE HOW IT ROLLED. BUT AS I SAID IT MIGHT BE ME.

WELL MY POINT BEING IS I REALLY HAVEN'T SEEN ANY POST ON THIS BALL. FOR THOSE WHO HAS ONE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW YOU DRILLED IT AND HOW IT WORKED OUT FOR YOU.

As per Ric Hamlin's suggestion I had mine drillied pin under middle finger, 5 1/2 pin to PAP, locator pin 45º and I really dig the reaction. The ball goes through the three distinct transitions (skid, hook and roll) like no other ball I've ever owned.

ONLY THING I KNOW THE PIN IS UNDER THE FINGERS. AS I MENTIONED EARLIER THAT IT JUST COULD BE ME THAT I'M NOT THROWING THE BALL RIGHT. I'VE BEEN INCONSISTANT ON MY RELEASE. I JUST BOUGHT THE CELL PEARL WHICH I LIKE AND GUESS WHAT I ENDED UP THROWING A NICE BALL WITH IT. WHICH MY FRIEND AND I WERE DISCUSSING MY PROBLEM WHICH I TRY TOO MUCH. SO AFTER BUYING THE CELL PEARL I EASE OFF ON PUTTING TOO MUCH ON THE BALL MAKING IT TURN RATHER THE BALL DOING THE WORK. AFTER THROWING THE CELL I'M GIVING MY ULTRA ZONE A CHANCE AND NOT TO PUT TOO MUCH AND LET IT DO THE WORK.

OTHER THAN THAT THE ORIGINAL CELL AND THE PEARL WILL BE MY GO 2 BALL ON TOURNAMENTS AND WHEN GO TO SWEEPERS.

Hard to assess your situation if your release is, as you say, inconsistant. Give it another shot.

P.S. Posting in caps is considered shouting.

i haven't posted an official review on this ball yet as i haven't had it that long. however, i love the reaction i'm getting out of the ball. i have the pin next to my ring finger, the cg is swung a little to the right, and the psa is below the thumbhole. there is a balance hole down in the right thumb quadrant. more importantly, the ball has been finished with a 1,000 grit abralon pad and a coat of brunswick polish. this ball really defines skid, hook, and roll. i can't place the pin under the fingerholes as i track too high( pap 5 7/8 by 3/4 up ).

i have my ultra zone Drilled Pin Under Middle Finger, I have a low track and low ball speed. I love the reaction I get from it, it seems to go a little long and then snap. Ball has good backend reaction which I love

I would say the CELL PEARL. Drill patterns can be make the difference too. i will try to post a picture of my cell pearl how it is drilled.
