Title: Vapor Zone replacement..
Post by: bowl868 on April 19, 2010, 01:51:28 AM
I love my VZ... and I use it often still, especially on old wood.  I'm a high track stroker and I have the pin 5" from my PAP and above my ring finger, 60 degrees.  This ball can really open a house shot for me, and I'd like to mimic it's reaction with this drilling in a newer ball that will handle today's oils and carrydown a little better.

I really like the looks of the Evil Siege, specs seem in the range of what I'd need to reach my goal.  But I haven't seen someone with my style throw one.  Or would the C-System 2.5 or 3.5 be the better?  I searched the forums and found some threads that made me more confused between these 3.  Thanks....

I think we all loved the Vapor Zone! I don't think you can go wrong with the Evil Siege or the Wild Thing. Both are very nice pearl reactives.

Out of the two C-System balls the 2.5 should be closer to what you're describing.

I had a vapor zone, and if you are willing to go away from Brunswick, which I did, and I still love Brunswick, I bought a Cluth Pearl and am absolutely loving it.   Just my two cents worth.  Good luck in making a decision!!

I have had 2 Vapor Zones and loved them, but they are not the balls they used to be when they were introduced due to the changes in lane conditioner. I have a C-System 2.5 and I believe it has a much stronger reaction off the breakpoint than the VZ had. I had mine drilled weak with the pin down and it still turms hard off the corner. My Storm Fast gives me a more similar reaction to the VZ. It is a much stronger ball than I thought it would be. The Fast is a lot of ball for the money.

I agree the 2.5 is exactly what you are looking for. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the suggestions... we'll see if I pull the trigger soon, or hold off until after summer.  I *think* I'm leaning toward the Evil Siege.

The MoRich Complete Annihilation Revival is a remake of the Vapor Zone.  You can get them on EBay from time to time.

You may be able to find the overseas Brunswick Focus Zone. It's basically the euro Vapor Zone. On Brunswick's site, the 2 balls match up almost identically.

Joe has some for sale here^^^. My buddy throws one. Not a bad ball.

Nope! Focus Zone is Blast Zone. Activator Hybrid.. Great ball in my opinion. Vapor is activator plus with a relatively weaker core..

I'd prefer Evil if I were to replace Vapor. For me, VZ was not as angular as my C-system 2,5..

Hope this helps,
