Title: Weight Holes

Just found out today how much a weight hole can change a balls reaction. I have the Sapphire Zone Pearl and Solid. They were both used when I bought them and they are drilled almost identical with the Solid's pin a little lower to get it started earlier. The Solid was so weak and so not the ball I thought I was getting. Tried different surfaces but did not see the ball reaction I wanted. Finally my Pro Shop guy convinced me to put a weight hole in the Solid. WOW this ball finally looked like the ball I wanted to complement my Pearl. It turns earlier and gets back from almost anywhere. It looked so strong on synthetics that I think I am going to have to polish it up to play on the normal wooden lanes I bowl on. To think I almost gave up on this ball. Normally I hate weight holes but not this time.

Weight holes, when done properly, can add as much as %40 total diff's to a ball. Check this out.....it explains it well

the brunsnick is a good video but the Mo rich guide is a lot more technical way of applying the weight holes... you can get more of a reaction and more influence with the morich technique

It would be great for Mo to do a reaction video like the brunsnick one.
I''m thinking the p1 - p4 hole would be a night and day difference in reaction

I was actually curious how the weight holes used in Nick's video compare to the Gradient Line Balance hole.

I know that the flare increasing hole Nick uses in the videos is a weight hole out past the PAP, and I wondered how that managed to increase flare?

I mean in the end that weight hole is useless to my game because I flare over any weight hole near my PAP.

The one feature we had with the weight hole balls, that Brunswick devised, were that Ray Edwards, head of R & D, was able to create slugs that had washers inside the slug to re-create a similar density to the bowling ball. So when you took out or replaced, it was close to the original bowling ball. He tested the bowling ball before and after to check it, so whe removing the weight holes for demoes, it was pretty awesome using that tool to explain reaction differences with weight holes.
Yes, Mo's chart shows the technical side with the numbers...it helps when placing the weight hole to have a better chance of creating the desired reaction.

The brunsnick weight holes change the reaction based on how far the holes are from the pin.. the holes farther away from the pin increase the differential and create more flare thus more reaction.. The location of course does have something to do with the reaction but not as much as the mo rich..

The placement of the holes in the morich gradient line have to do with how much asymmetry and intermediate rg differential they create .. that is what changes the reaction..

On the MB , P4 HOLE, enhances and increases the asymmetry the most..

On the PAP reduces the asymmetry and dynamics the most
