Zone Classic (Green Pin) has the same coverstock as the OI. AI is a bit more aggressive. An OI in disguise is the current overseas Hyper Zone-S - if you can get your hands on one. And the red/black PBA Inferno is also an OI in different colors.
Ambush should work on similar conditiosn as the OI but I think it would not be an exact replacement... higher RG, particle coverstock. But it should have that arcing motion you are looking for.
An Impulse Zone might also be worth a look, as well as a Vapor Zone.

IMO if you're looking to replace an original Inferno, a polished Absolute will get you pretty close, as would a scuffed BVP Rampage. If you're looking for a true "medium" ball, though, you might want to give the BVP Nemesis a look.

A Zone Classic would be a good choice but you better hurry, they'll be hard to get your hands on soon. Like a few others have said, another good choice would be an Absolute shined up. Still a little stronger, but what a GREAT all-around ball. My favorite thing to say about the Absolute is that if I HAD to pick only one ball to use on all lane conditions, it would be the Absolute Inferno.

What better replacement for an inferno than an inferno? Check out www.bowlingball.com i believe they still have some inferno's left. They're closing one of their shops down here in daytona beach and they are really nice guys. If not look at the quantum limited edition, it is a re-make of the inferno, same core and cover and very similar cover.
But wow... 850 games, that ball was WELL worth the money, mine is probably around 500 games and still going strong. Have another sitting in the basement lol. Good luck

Try a Smoking inferno drilled length, max flare... this ball really handles medium well.
The Absolute Inferno on the other hand is hands down the best Inferno to date....
However, it goes a little longer and hooks sharper than the original Inferno, but carries WELL and is very very predictable.
I also know that Texas Station in Las Vegas has 2 15# Original Infernos. Give em a call.
