brunswick rattler
« on: February 20, 2009, 07:40:48 AM »
i had my new brunswick rattler drilled up today. thanks to bill smith's ams bowling supply in independence , missouri, for the technical help......best pro shop in the metro kansas city metro area. ball specs:

15lbs. 1oz. gross weight
2.7oz top weight
pin out 4 1/4"

i left the ball in box condition( 400 grit wetsanded and brunswick polish ). i had the ball laid out in my usual drill pattern( pin next to ring finger, cg stacked, big hole down in lower right thumb quadrant ). i'll being trying it out tomorrow night in my mixed league and will post an initial impression saturday night.

Is it controllable?

For me it's the most angular finish I've seen in some time from Brunswick, but it's still predictable. The cover/core combo on this one are an awesome match.

Yea i have to agree it is really one of the most impressive balls in a long time. Its been 4 years since activator has waited to come down onto a BVP ball and its been nearly worth the wait.

Ball hooks plenty, finishes strong and is still very continous but controlable.

just finished shooting 1539/6 in a tv qualifier. shot 801 for the first 3.

but i shot 805 with an avalanche slide about 6 weeks ago as well.

i used my new rattler tonite in my mixed league. this house has 30 year old wood lanes that are in excellent shape. the oil pattern is a 39' blend( no top hat and very little wall ). i used the rattler in shadow balls and quickly noticed the angular backend reaction. i was throwing the ball decently so i decided to use it in league play. i started the night standing on 24 and hitting 11 at the arrows with the ball going out to about 6. by the time the third game was over i was standing on 31 and hitting 13 at the arrows with the ball going out to about 8. the ball has a similar reaction to my ultra zone( they are drilled the same ). it's a good ball but i will need more testing to give a full report.

Would you consider the Rattler a ball for Medium conditions or more for medium to Dry conditions?

Man I am so excited about this ball. I think it would be a GREAT replacement for a Smokin' Inferno, what do you all think?

I believe it's a little stronger than the Smokin', which was one of the great down-and-in balls.
