Problem
« on: May 19, 2007, 06:19:58 AM »
In 2 weeks i'm having carpel tunnel surgery on my
bowling hand (wrist). And I am curious as to know
if anybody has had this done, and has anybody had
any problems bowling afterward? My doctor told me
shouldn't bother me at all. But i've also heard
some horror stories about the affects afterward.
And I don't know any other bowler who has had this
done. So I thought I would come on here to find out
if anybody has had this done and what they experienced.

My wife had the surgery about 10 years ago but unfortunately the doctor screwed up and she ended up having a second surgery. She was back bowling in a couple of months and has no problems now with her hand.

You can return in a relatively short time IF you have a decent doctor and therapist and you do what they say. Return time is 2 - 4 months depending mostly on you.

Horror stories are minimal; anyone can screw up anything. Worst case scenario is that you abuse your hand again and the surgery needs to be repeated.

Surgery is out-patient; it's not a heart and liver transplant and it's not brain surgery, still they're cutting you up and you're getting anesthesia, towards which anyone can have a bad reaction. Otherwise, it's a 15 minute operation. It'll be over literally before you know it.

Had right hand done in 1994 and left hand done in 2005.
