Older Brunswick heads...
« on: February 24, 2007, 03:10:21 AM »
You guys know how there was an Attack Zone R? And there were different colors of it... I have on that looks like one but I can't find the specs for the specific color. It's Lavender and it has the R on the label so I assume its reactive. My question is how would this ball do on todays Shorter patterns?

this could be the attack zone mr----i found it at bowlingballreviews.com----it's listed as red/blue in color but looks like a lavender color. this is a three-piece reactive ball. it would be great for drier lanes. if you are a power player you may get it to work on a medium to drier condtion.

IIRC, all of the Attack Zone R's were three-piece, and used a cover that was weaker than the PowrKoil 17 on the current Power Grooves.  As I also recall, you *had* to have dry boards to turn the Attack Zone over at the break, and if you used it on too much oil or tried to play too much through the oil, you'd plack corners all night.  So if you're looking for an option for shorter, drier patterns, the R might not be a bad choice.

On edit:  The MR had a pancake at the top, but a smaller puck at the bottom to create differential, similar to the Dynamic Groove.
