Title: Which is the strongest ball?
Post by: thedjs on July 30, 2005, 02:30:16 AM

Is the Nemesis as strong as the Absolute assuming that both are drilled the same and used on an oiler condition?  Also, are the reactions a skid snap or more of an arc?

Any help would be appreciated.

Now don't quote me on this but, I believe the Absolute is stronger. I do know that both are more of an arc though.

What you also have to factor in, here, is the fact that the Absolute is a pearl and the Nemesis is a solid.  All in all, that may mean very little.  But, being that I have rolled both of them, I believe that the Absolute is going to be a little longer down the lane and stronger on the backend.  Left in box finish, the Nemesis will roll earlier, but is smoother around the corner.  With surface prep, you could make the Nemesis an overall stronger ball than the Absolute, but out of box surfaces, I think the Absolute is a touch stronger overall.

Thanks guys.  I think the Nemesis might be a better choice for me as I want it to handle more oil and need it to roll early.

i have both balls and they are both drilled the same( pin next to ring finger, cg in center of grip ). i tested them both wetsanded 800 grit and polished with brunswicks factory finish high gloss polish. the absolute inferno is a good 6 boards stronger than the nemesis.

I would corroborate what Greg just said, FWIW.

In my opinion, for whatevr it's worth,
With the same finish Activator AND Acitvator+ is stronger than PK18 and will handle more oil than PK18. In their respective out-of-the-box finishes, these 2 balls for for different, if not complimentary purposes. They can be mixed and matched by changing surfaces until doomsday, as both coverstock are almost infinitely adjustable.

With some polish and some drillings, the Nemesis can appear more flippy than the AI; I think that's due to the their cores. The AI can appear somewhat flippy, but there's fewer circumstances where that might happen.

That said, the Activator+ is an absolutely amazing a coverstock to my mind and is as much a break-through in bowling technology, as the whole idea of particles has been since their introduction in the late 1990s.
